Somebody might want to inform Texas' football team that a 2.89 GPA isn't overly impressive. They announced it on Twitter Sunday.

Being around a few football programs and seeing it first hand and factoring in 85-100 guys combined GPA at 2.89 is not bad at all. football players aren’t really known for much in the classroom. C’s will keep you eligible though

that's true. with some exceptions for Ivy League (and equivalent schools).

other than men's basketball, football has no equal for the race to the bottom as far as team GPA is concerned.

would love to see a 4th grade spelling bee among, say, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State.

very good state university, but let's not pretend the place is Princeton.

UT is very highly ranked. Haven't looked in the past 2-3 years, but in 2016 their business school (undergrad) was #2 in the country. Admission is no given, even for state residents.

It was a good win, but bowl game results, to me anyway, have become more difficult to judge since the playoff system was instituted, and since players started opting out for the draft. I’m not sure what the ratio was in this particular game.

While I don't know if I'd be bragging about it, that's not a bad team GPA for football.
