Good Analysis of the game:

"Miami also shifted their approach. It wasn’t a dramatic and/or idiotic shift. It was subtle. In fact, the run-pass split in the first half was 20-16, and in the second half it was 15-12 (prior to the final drive). So it wasn’t that the Canes stopped throwing and went into a complete shell. Instead, they opted for safer throws when asked to throw. They still took some shots, but when you look at targets to Miami’s big-play threat, Phillip Dorsett, the second half drop-off is insane. Dorsett was targeted six times in the first half. In the second (prior to the last drive), just one time. I do think it is a fair criticism to say that the Canes got conservative and started playing the clock in the second half. But the extent of that conservatism has likely been exaggerated.

Another issue the Canes had was failed execution. While Kaaya generally played a strong first half, he did miss some throws. And in the second half, Kaaya was plainly not good. Perhaps the moment overwhelmed him. There were two huge missed deep balls. There was a key drop from Braxton Berrios. There were two fumbles by tight ends. All of this contributed to the loss and had nothing to do with the playcalling.
The end result was an offense that completely lost its way by the end of the game. That’s not a good look in Week 10 coming off a bye week. And there is plenty of blame to go around."

The more I read that guy, the more I think he's an idiot. We played an undefeated top 5 team, give me a break with those grades. Go back and look at the team from 2000-2002, those teams put up less points against much worse teams. We have enough idiots on this board, we don't need to add to it.

He's giving the reasons why they're STILL undefeated, top 5.

I watched the game last night again and amend my criticism. There was no marked shift in the offensive philosophy, maybe with exception of the second to last possession where we got conservative. Kaaya missed a couple throws. And the batted screen to Yearby was HUGE. A few key penalties also hamstrung the play calling. Duke repeatedly gashed them on first down in the second half. After watching the game on TV, we really did control most of that game. The holding penalties FSU got away with were even more evident last night than they were in person. Oh, and without Ramsey, we smoke those fools by two touchdowns. That dude is a beast.

Vish is a good dude, but here he shows a complete overemphasis on numbers without looking at the plays or context. He uses run/pass numbers as the basis for a conclusion on our style in the separate halves. You have to look at what personnel groupings were used to run the ball or pass the ball. You have to look at how we attacked instead of just whether or not we attacked. Passing the ball is not necessarily synonymous with attacking. Running the ball is not necessarily being conservative.

In the end, FSU changed up their coverages and we allowed them to dictate to our offense. In my view, that's a loss of control. Doesn't mean we couldn't win the game, but it's closer to "holding on" rather than "conquering."
