Underperformers...Have cost us games

When a team losses, there is a lot of finger pointing.

Got to blame someone right?

Blame should be delivered in this order:
1. Administration and President: You took our stadium away, and moved us to a conference we can't win.
2. Coaches: We have a lot of talent and we look average. No improvement. Scandal or not, we still have a 10 win team. Thanks for the help, now get out.
3. Shapiro: No more needs to be said
4. Under-performing players: Some players work harder than others. If you are under-performing and not working as hard as the others, blame should come your way.
5. Prostitutes at the hotels: There has to be some reason why we have no legs on our road games

Regarding your point, I think you overscore Chick's impact on games. Yes, he's a tweener and he was never meant to be a bulked up guy. He's a reserve guy who unfortunately, has been put in tough positions over the course of the last several years. I love 3G but he is what he is - an average player.

As for Coley, I'm sure he did bang up his shoulder but that shoulder should be fine for now, or at least much better. His part is mental.

Chick wasn't explosive coming out of high school. He was a high motor kid. Keeping him at 245 to 250 pounds was not going to make him a player who could seal off the edge at the point of attack. He should be playing 3-technique tackle and he could most certainly do that at 280 to 285 pounds a la Matt Walters, who played in the 270 to 275 pound range. Chick is a good player playing out of position in my opinion.

You're assuming Coley is healthy. I'm not so sure. I don't disagree that the mental aspect of the game is hurting him, but it could be due to the injury. He's got to learn how to play through it. He was terrific last year.

This is the issue. Lots of guys play with hurt and the injury could not have been THAT bad considering he was always listed near the top of the depth chart every game after Louisville.

As for Chick, I never said he was explosive. He was actually a pretty advanced DE in HS for his technique and ability to rush the passer - think Rusty Medearis (a slow guy but he was a high motor guy who was an excellent technician off the edge). Instead, Golden wanted to transform him into basically a 4-3 DT/3-4 SDE. Square peg round hole. Agree on playing out of position.

I knew you'd throw in Rusty. Rusty was a linebacker and a tight end in high school. He was much better athlete and more explosive than Chick. That was the winning formula. Take high school linebackers and make them into defensive ends. Take defensive ends and convert them into linebackers. Chick was always a 3-technique tackle in the right system in my opinion. But like I said the irony is he'll be drafted as a 3-4 end and probably be a pretty decend one.

I don't know a single 3 technique DT in the NFL over the last 15 years that has Chicks body type. He could probably play the tilted nose, but he's a little tall for that. He's a 5 technique DE all the way. With a better S and C program that developed lean muscle and fast twitch speed (aka, any modern S and C program) he will be fine in the NFL.

I hear you. I didn't say he would play 3-technique at the next level. I agree he is 5-technique all the way in the NFL. I'd suspect he'll lean down to around 270 to 275 for the combine. My guess is he'll end up in the 5th or so if combines well.

Ok OP, besides me wanting you to drop dead, I've created a little list for you:

Green Bay, New England, Arizona, Buffalo, San Fran, Cleveland, Seattle.

and here's a second list:

Oakland, Jets, Jacksonville, Washington.

The first list is the teams with the best turnover differential in the NFL. The second is the teams with the worst. The first list is a who's who of superbowl winning coaches and or coach of the year winners (except buffalo's coach). The second list is featuring all dead men walking coaches.

GET THIS IN YOUR HEAD YOU MOUTHBREATHING SACK OF GARBAGE: WELL COACHED TEAMS MAKE LESS MISTAKES, AND POORLY COACHED TEAMS MAKES LOADS F THEM

Kind of a bad example

Bottom list has 3 of the worst QBs in the NFL along with RG3/Cousins

Top list has Brady/Rodgers/Wilson/Palmer/Kap/Hoyer QBs who don't make mistakes....only weird one is Bills but they have a solid/great run game

Chick was kicking tackles asses all week at the Under Armour practices.

Golden chose to pack 45 pounds on him and turn him into a sloth to fit his archaic, Big 10 defense. Chick is a victim of a coach that has a body image issue and wants all his players to be as obese as him.

Golden is like the chick that says "well, I'm not gonna be the only one ordering fries!"

Chickillo should be happy he gained the weight, guy is going to have a long career as a 5 technique in the NFL, more than he would have playing at 240 somewhere else along the line

NFL defenses are moving to 3-4, check all the best defense in the NFL/Teams who have won the past few SuperBowls, only ones who didn't run a 3-4 were the Giants I believe

If it's not coaching, can someone please explain to me why so many of our "busts" turn in to studs once they get in to the NFL?

Coley, Chickillo, Kirby, Howard, Wyche, to name a few. To take the next step players cannot continue to hit a wall. The above players this year sometimes need to make one crucial play in a game, they have been non existent in games. I see to many times players in key spots in the game not making plays or having a negative effect by fumbling in key situations. You cannot sugar coat Duke fumbling problems more than once this year, Chickillo is terrible will not get drafted, Howard is a houdini disappearing act, Wyche came in overweight, Kirby cannot get off a block. BERRIOS TRUE FROSH MADE A KEY BLUNDER AGAINST FSU. All of this adds to losses, I m sorry but there is only so much coaches can teach. Players have to make plays a la Walford n Perryman.

How is Artie Burns not on this list?

Artie Burns has played wel all year, 2 idiotic plays against UVA doesn't change that. There's a reason him and Elder start over Tracy

How much is UM/Al paying you to post all this crap?

You pop up suddenly spouting Al Golden's excuse list - and it's clear you have a deviant agenda - just like Al - blaming players.

OP is a fugin loser. stop responding to his posts..he is a troll wannabe UM grad.

Ban this pice of ****!!!

Golden runs a northeast type talent scheme. Its time to realize he has world class athletes now and is in SFla. Hes too stupid to adapt to his players

both are responsible. Yes players need to be coached but if your talented enough and want to win you play!!! Thats what they call leaders.
Laying blame on the players for our five losses while absolving Golden is far worse than flying a banner.
