Underneath the pain of Saturday night, our defense is still really good

Forget about the last :30 seconds of the game. D was put in a terrible position and yes they blew coverages badly. However that is nowhere near indicative of how they played that night and the 4 games prior. Quite frankly, i would say the same about the offense too. I will never forget about the way we lost on Saturday, however anyone who thinks we are getting blown out Saturday night is a little too over-emotional. I think a 31-24 Canes win is absolutely realistic. At least I hope so for mental health reasons.

The TEAM itself is good. Even if the offense didn't play very well, they did what other Miami teams wouldn't do...win in spite of their mistakes. But the coaching staff and the refs took it from'em. We should have played better, obviously, but that doesn't matter...we should have won. It was a W in the column.

Take the last drive away where the defense was already texting broads and blowing kisses into the crowd because the game was over, the defense gave up 17 points.

7 of them came off a drive where we gave them the ball on our 26.

3 of them came off a drive where we gave them the ball on our 15.

They had 1 legit drive in the game.

They had run 48 plays for 176 yards for the entire game. That's 3.67 yards per play.

King was 10/21 for 75 yards before that. That's 3.57 yards per pass attempt.

Obviously, that is complete and total domination. I'll post the stat roll later but we're in the Top 25 in just about every defensive category right now. Pretty big challenge on Saturday, but South Carolina and Minnesota both held UNC to 31 points. I think we can do better than that.

The D was pretty stout & dominated GT for the most part (except that last drive). They only gave up 251 yds (with about a third of that given up on the last drive). GT never should have had the ball for that last drive (as we should have taken a knee to end the game & Chaney didn’t actually fumble). GT easily could have had less than 200 yds of total offense & that’s very impressive in today’s CFB.

Bash me if u want but no elite defense lets GT drive down the field with no timeouts in 30 seconds . That was just as embarrassing . Mario shoulda called a timeout to calm everybody down tho . And i know the game shoulda been over with but u still gotta go execute on D .

Our AA safety tried to get a pick instead of playing smart and staying in his zone

It seems like our guys were just not thinking the whole game, coaches and players

Off weeks always produce a **** game for us

I'm fine with all of that and proud of their performance.

I however have to say, they weren't put in a bad position. 26 seconds left and what, 70 plus yards with no timeouts. The only way GT scores there is if we make collosal mistakes, which we did. TWO SELFISH mistakes cost us that game which was basically assured 99 percent of the time.

They never should've been on the field again, but they were. Couch and Kam cost is that game at that point. There was nothing bad about it about their position, just their play.

No doubt our entire team is good. Putting the stupidity of Saturday night behind us, I hope our players respond and quickly get a W. On any given day, I think our guys can beat just about anyone out there if the stars align just right. Unfortunately, we haven't gotten past that place where we let inferior teams stay close and then we close out with stupidity. Go Canes 🏈

I think we have to chalk this up to, after the fumble, destiny took over. I absolutely KNEW when they came back and said "play stands" it was going to lead to disaster. No idea how it would get there but I knew it!

The one thing I'll say against the defense is they have yet to face a passing offense. Up to date we have faced teams who wanna run the ball. Texas A&M the only team we faced with a decent passing offense. So UNC will be our first. But one thing is for sure our run defense is a lot better then last years team who couldn't stop anybody rushing game

That team put up nearly 500 yards of offense against Louisville and at Ole Miss. Our defense absolutely smothered them all game to the tune of 175 yards (f that last BS drive).

Yep and 3 of those points were after Ga Tech had a short field due to a TVD pick. I mean if we won that game that stop there for them to settle for 3 is the drive of the game. Aside from the final drive, our d had one bad drive and James Williams was solely to blame for that.

Exactly. Take off the last drive from every game in CFB and tell me how many outcomes that changes. 100% should have called a timeout. But games are 60 mins not 59:30
