Now if it was 21-0 and they wanted to keep the starters in to add another touchdown or two, I get it but when you’re beating a P5 opponent 41-0, scoring another touchdown or two isn’t going to do anything.

Secondly, since we’re judging how important our game is by being on the ESPN main page, should we have allowed a lm inferior opponent to play us super close like Georgia tech did? NCState is a much better team than UCLA. Why didn’t Ohio state beat them 60-0?

Ohio State is #1 in country. Them posting the GT score is to show everyone how bad the ACC is. A ranked ACC team barely beat a 1-10 squad.

And yea if we beat NC State 56-0 it would have absolutely sent more of a message than a 41-7 game. Remember when Indiana hung 60+ on a very over ranked Illinois team? That’s a statement win. 41-7 isn’t even a blip on the radar. That’s just doing what you’re supposed to do. And if anyone looks any deeper they see we only scored 4 offensive TDs and had to settle for 2 field goals and another missed.

Again good, not great.

We moved up several spots in the rankings last week despite only blowing out Syracuse for a half. We'll move up again this week since Texas lost and Vandy was idle and beating NC State by more points wouldn't have made any difference

So the number 1 team doesn’t have to win by 60 but we do? Ok. Gotcha.

The point spread was between 14.5 and 15.5 depending on what site you use. Wining by 15 would be “just doing what you’re supposed to do”. This wasn’t an FCs team or even a G5 opponent. P4 teams rarely beat other P4 teams by 50+ points. It’s an absolutely ridiculous expectation

The #1 team didn’t lose to two teams, one of which has losses to Wake Forest, TCU, and Baylor. Early in the season Indiana came out and blew out a ranked (very over ranked) Illinois and put up 60 on them. That’s making a statement. Mario is afraid to lose. It’s why he let ND hang around. It’s why he let Florida hang around. It’s why he let FSU hang around. It’s why we schemed a loss against Louisville and then against SMU.

Yes it is a ridiculous expectation. We are now in the mode of needing 5 teams to win or lose in different sequences to get into the ACCCG to make the playoffs. As if that’s not a ridiculous expectation. They did it to themselves.

Chase smith to me was much better than popo yesterday. He’s been good. Super happy for him. Guys been a cane and has worked hard to get here
 
Also, pay Hetherman whatever he wants. He's earned it. Am not worried he'd leave to be a HC in the offseason, but he would be an upgrade for most playoff-contending P2 teams at DC.

Beating NC State by 50 fixes none of those problems. Beating a team by 40 instead of 30 isn’t going to make Miami jump anyone in the CFP poll. If the playoff committee thinks a 10-2 Miami team isn’t good enough it will have e nothing to do with “only” beating North Carolina State by 37 points.

Yeah, but if we went 62-0, held them under the 100 yards, and kept like 10 of their players hostage with swords pointed at their necks, I bet that would send the appropriate message to the committee. If I’m Mario, I blowout VTEch and then have the team light their stadium on actual fire. Look at the camera as they’re walking out and Jakobe Thomas says ‘business trip.’

I’d be very impressed. Their stadium is mostly stone and steel. The 62-0…child’s play.

My hope is that with the defense playing lights out and the offense becoming more interesting/exciting, that will help us with some style points down the road.
We, obviously, have to come out with our hair on fire these next two games to make the committee say, I'd like to see this Miami vs say Texas Tech or Notre Dame...again.
