UNC

And the worst part about it (for Tarheel fans) is, UNC is low-key a Goldmine school if ran correctly.

They have plenty of money available for NIL. They have a strong backing with the Jordan brand. And sit in a hotbed for really good NFL caliber talent in the Carolinas-Georgia-VA-Tennesse region.

All they would need to do is stop hiring geezers with one foot in the retirement home & they could turn that program around in a couple years.

Their administration is as stupid as can be.
Yes but they are cursed by the god-**** ugliest uniforms in the NCAA. That has to result in at least 2-3 prime recruits saying FU per year.

As a NC resident, I can tell you the culture overall in the Triangle is still very old boys network. They like hiring the old white guys because that’s their buddies. Clemson no different. It’s still very much still part of the south (though not Alabama). Plus UNC fans and admin are very arrogant because of their standing and just think they are smarter than everyone else.

It's weird that he decided to toil around in CFB. It's a non-stop job and one he has to learn. The guy could be off in Napa Valley or a beach somewhere having fun with his millions with his 24 y/o g/f in tow. Instead, he's tarnishing his legacy to try to prove something.

Exactly my take from the beginning. The whole thing is just weird.

"The alleged extra benefits — which are in violation of NCAA rules — involved providing a player’s family members sideline passes for a game, according to the source."

That's it?!? In these days of NIL? Not that I care about bad things happening to UNC, but ***** the NCAA.
How does the NCAA find out about something so small.

Bill probably leaking all this stuff himself to get himself fired and collect the $20+m UNC would owe him.

However, standard contracts typically reduce the buyout (significantly) if the coach is fired for "just cause" ... e.g., NCAA rules violations

Someone snitched

UNC is stuck with an unmitigated disaster.

Ideal time for an inside job to expedite moving on from a failed hire

I dont know how people (mainly at UNC) didn't see this disaster coming.

The college game/talent acquisition is a totally different animal than the NFL and Belicheck seems like the last person on earth that would adapt to that style. He would have been better off taking a DC gig.

Colliding egos.

Belichick's and a HFC who would feel threatened or minimized by his presence

Usually I have my fair share of doubts in regards to articles that pop up randomly and cite "inside sources".

Literally everything in here has happened in New England at some point. I could go through it in detail for the sake of laughing.

I don’t think I read/heard anyone saying hiring Belecheat was going to go well. And then he brings his grand daughter with him.

The thing is, smashing his sons as coaches isn't the nepotism pointing that they're making it to be. Steve was the playcaller of the 2019 Patriots defense that was a top-tier-unit and carried the team into the playoffs because the offense turned into ****. Brian was a really good safeties coach as well, it wasn't that.

Making Matt Patricia an OC and Mike Lombardi as your GM, that's the issue. And that has just followed him. It's purely about him hiring his guys who follow his way. He'd rather go down his way than win with someone else's ideas.

His final season in New England, he didn't want the team to hire O'Brien as the OC. He blocked hiring further assistants and scouts, which resulted in the offensive coaching room to be divided. The OL coach in 2023 left the team after basically telling Bill and his little scouting midget named Matt Groh that they didn't supply the team with actual talent that he can coach up. He didn't tell the team in 2022 vs the Bears who would start and randomly flipped between subbing QBs in and out. He stopped speaking to Mac Jones and refused to coach him. He overruled scouts in draft decisions based on personal relationships.

After 2021, it felt like he wanted to win his way after Brady left. After 2022, it felt like he tried to sabotage everything because he was questioned in his ways.

Most successful coach in NFL history about to be fired from his job at a college football lightweight while getting fleeced by a 24-year old grifter – all in less than 7 years' time.

One helluva crash and burn
