Oh, I see.
Now it is a mental health issue. Therefore, the rules shouldn't apply to him.
Fck M.Brown and Fck UNC.

IT IS A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE!

THE NORTH CAROLINA FANS ARE MENTALLY DISTURBED!!!

Threatening violence against the NCAA? Yeah, they aren't going to be winning any appeals for QUITE SOME TIME now...

Just ******* disband the NCAA already and be done with it!

The problem is that Mack Brown was a key advocate in slowing down the transfer portal and putting limits/restrictions/regulations on transfers.

Now he's fighting it because it's impacting him.

He got what he asked for.

I was on the staff at ETSU when Tez walker was there out of HS. The kid is as soft as they come. He was crying for his mom 2 or 3 days after she dropped him off on campus. Literally crying and in coaches offices saying he wanted to transfer and go back home. Asking us to find him another school lmao.. Blew out his knee like a week or 2 later and got his scholarship pulled before the next summer semester because he wanted to go home and not take classes. He was told he needed to prove he deserved it before the fall by sticking around and going to class, being around the team, and a better attitude.. and we weren't honoring a scholarship for a kid that was threatening to transfer on a daily basis. He would have been put back on scholarship if he re-enrolled in the fall and he didn't. Jut popped up on NC Central's roster in 2020 and we had no idea.

Not shocked at all he has been at 4 schools in 3 years.

Cant stand UNC and all this bull**** about being worried about the mental health of their student. Truth is, if he was a thirst string LB they wouldn't be doing all this. They dont care about the kid, they care that he is good and would help them win games.

If he really does have mental health issues then its best to sit out a year of football and focus on getting that addressed.
Not only that, if the kid really does have a mental health issue, they should keep it between the school and the player.

Bias aside and all the back and forth shots aside…this kid should be eligible based on my understanding of the situation and how I would write the rules if I was in charge. He never suited up for Tennessee state and it’s d1AA.

Jackson at FSU shouldn’t be eligible.

There’s a clear distinction between the two cases and how the NCAA doesn’t see that is beyond me.

Wait wait. Did he enroll in classes at ETSU? Most articles say he blew out knee in HS and deferred enrollment at ETSU.

👀

Losing accreditation lulz. Come on. The NCAA barely has a leg to stand on these days.

I'd settle for a few calls in Chapel Hill.

This makes everyone in here crying about the NCAA decisions on transfer look like an *******.

I'm pretty sure he blew out his knee in our workouts. He may or may not have been in classes since it was summer session and he was there for maybe 2 weeks.

His argument was that he never actually signed a LOI at ETSU, never got a school credit from ETSU, and that may have been the case. But he showed up, got a dorm, and frequented the coaches offices, and was in our workouts. Some of his measurements are still in files on my email and the dates are summer session 1.

I vaguely remember Gary Downs (RB coach/recruiting coordinator) on the phone with his mom after he tore it too. Because she was blaming our S&C staff for it.

No different than the staffer at FSU going through Josh Farmer's family to talk Darrell Jackson's mom right after the season to plant the seed that all she needs to do is say she's sick and Darrell will be granted eligibility.

The problem is that Darrell told too many people about his plan and it didn't end up being so easy. Caught red handed.

All that NCAA compliance does is uphold guidelines that coaches and administrators vote for and ask for. They're not the bad guys all the time. Coaches pushed for this instead of wide open transfer whenever you want. Which I agree with. Kids and their families faking mental health problems, familial matters, and legitimate reasons are hurting it and making it impossible to filter out the ones with real reasons so waivers are getting denied more frequently without rock solid evidence.

Not that the situations are identical, but a looooong time ago, we had a guy by the name of....Dan Sileo...

...who first enrolled at Maryland in 1982, though he was academically ineligible (below 2.0 HS GPA), and he took 9 credit hours in Fall 1982 and Spring 1983 in order to gain eligibility, where he played for Maryland during the 1983 season (1st year or 2nd year?)...

....then he transferred to Cincinnati in 1984, though never playing in 1984 (sit-out year, and was it his 2nd year or 3rd year?)...

...then he transferred to Miami in 1985 (sit-out year, was it his 3rd year or 4th year?) and began playing for Miami in 1986 (was it his 4th year or 5th/final year?)...

...but was then declared ineligible in 1987 because the NCAA ruled that his clock had started in 1982 (even though he never played and was ineligible)...

Good times....
