#9 all time speaks tons of the kind of players we have had @ the U; specially since the list goes back to 1924 when we did not have a program and of course the dark ages for the last 15 years.

Great to notice we double the Turds all Americans 16 to 8 ( Moar tears!!!!! ) and ahead of The Holes by one.

Let's go CANES!

Most impressive thing about it is we'd probably have a lot more on the list if many of the voters weren't so anti-Miami back in the 80's and 90's.
UM had a bunch of AAs in the pre-title '70s-early '80s era. Harrah, Burt, O. Anderson, E. Edwards, L. Williams, C. Foreman, B. Owens, D. Smith.

The rough thing to note is Borregales was UM's first unanimous AA since Rolle. Jerome Brown and Vinny T. were the first since Ted Hendricks, also. We probably lost a few players at the margin who should have been unanimous but it's not a lot of guys who get it. Cortez Kennedy comes to mind. Searcy also. McGahee wasn't unanimous but Larry Johnson had 2K yards that year and was a senior, and Willis was a Soph.

Interesting thing is to compare the unanimous AA list by school to NFL Hall of Famers by school. It's not a perfect comparison obviously, but it's probably reasonable to think that guys that go on to Canton were probably as good as anyone who played their position when they were in college, and equally, schools that have a lot more unanimous AAs than HOFers are probably getting help from the AA voters. Edge is in Canton, Ricky Williams was a unanimous AA their senior year. Cortez Kennedy is in Canton, Moe Gardner was a unanimous AA DL in '89. Andre Johnson never even was an AA. Nor was Reggie Wayne. Michael Irvin wasn't a unanimous AA and didn't even make AA his final season (did make it in '86).

Irvin had some stiff competition in 87 - Tim Brown and Sterling Sharpe.. I don't even think Sharpe was a concensus AA

Per wiki, AP-1 was Ernie jones and marc zeno. Tim brown was AP-1 as a specialist. Wendell davis and guy liggins were AP-2. Terrence mathis and sterling sharpe were AP-3.

The wildest thing to me is that this poll goes back to 1924 and the University of Miami didn't even EXIST until 1926.

Miami is the youngest Power 5 school. The only other 2 power five conference universities founded after 1900 are UCLA (1919) and Texas Tech (1923).

And of the 130 Division 1 football programs, only 16 schools (2 AAC, 6 Conference USA, 3 Mountain West, 4 Sun Belt, 1 Independent) were founded after Miami.

The fact that Miami's football program is as prestigious as it is, when most Division 1 football programs are older than the University of Miami itself, is unbelievable.

Then add in that most of the football program's success has come in the last 40 years and it's an incomparable amount of success in such a short period of time.

Miami is up against schools that have been building foundations, resources, alumni networks etc. since the 1800s, some since the 1700s. Many of those schools with state funding along the way.

For a small young private school to field a football program that is: #9 in Unanimous All-Americans, #8 in weeks as AP number 1 ranked team, #6 in National Championships, #11 in NFL Draft Picks, #5 in NFL 1st Round Draft Picks & #5 in NFL Hall of Famers

......that's just INSANE.
