"UM Will Go After an Established Coach"

I'm not sold on cristobal as hc but people need to stop with the fiu ****. Nobody wins at fiu and so far he is the best coach in program history.

His biggest mistake was not taking the rutgers job. Fiu isn't a long term job. If you can somehow have a couple winning seasons you get the **** out.

Now if you have 4mil to spend why would you go after schiano and cristobal?

Itu had a list of coaches that schiano would likely bring with him and it wasn't impressive.

If they hire chud or schiano this recruiting class is gone.

The University of Miami has begun the process of determining the next head football coach following the dismissal of Al Golden on Sunday.

It has been previously reported that UM is willing to pay an annual salary of $4 million and InsideTheU can confirm this report according to a source. The source continued:

"They are going to go after an established coach. Guys like Justin Fuente and Tom Herman or any of the other coordinators are not even going to be considered. It looks like it's going to be either Greg Schiano or Mario Cristobal. Some guys want Butch Davis, but some people at UM, regardless of how he left, believe he has too much baggage with the NCAA stuff at North Carolina. Even though he was cleared, they're worried he might get busted again."

Golden won at Temple. No one wins at Temple.

What did he win? It wasn't the conference or bowl game.

Like D$ said, it's October. People are peddling agendas all over South Florida.

How would mario be considered established?

AThat's what makes my bull**** detector go off. The Mario thing sounds like a bow to the Cuban Community. His body of work just isn't there, and Tuscaloosa is ready to run him out of town. I know it's the Hecht, but I can't see the BOT settling for Mario and throwing at much money at him.

If we're going for an "established" coach, can someone explain to me how Mario is considered a more "established" coach than "Fuente?" I can't for the life of me understand that. Let's see, Mario was a coach at FIU, sucked, got fired. Fuente is a coach at Memphis, has a 10 win season and likely to have another this year. But, you know, Mario is more established.

They think Mario has coaching experience? His 5 measly years at FIU? It's like Alf golden but worse.

Do they mean $4M for the whole staff? Smh. I don't have a problem with Schiano, but Cristobal should be punted into Biscayne Bay

I can't help but scoff at the report. I'm hoping that the singular source quoted in that article is uninformed or misinformed.

Tom Herman won't even be considered because he's "unestablished," but Cristobal, who hasn't established anything but a painful record and experience at FIU, is a frontrunner?

I agree. I certainly hope ITU is horribly misinformed. Cristobal by no means is established. If this is their approach, this says that promising guys (who are on my wishlist) are gone, which include Hue Jackson, Tom Herman, and Justin Fuente. The only option from their criteria that I think in play are Butch and Mark Richt (if he gets fired from Georgia).

So established head coach equals Marion Cristobal, an OL coach at Alabama who was passed over for the OC position and has a head coaching record of 27-47?

I think I'll take this author's opinion with a grain of salt.
