UM students just get it.

Right, Rich Rod was the problem at Michigan. Whatever happened to that no talent coach. Oh yeah, he is at Arizona with 6-1 team ranked #12. What a terrible coach. Your insight is priceless.:hair-fire:

I'm talking about the University of Michigan. The students refused to continue to be a mediocre football program, and after the debacle of the Rich Rod experiment three years ago, and now the slop job Brady Hoke is doing, the students wised up. They focused their attention strictly on the AD, Dave Brandon, seeing that he was the true problem of their football program. Due to the heat he received from several poor decisions he made, he was forced to resign.

We can continue to fly all the banners we want, but our Admin needs to feel the heat to make changes within, as well. Blake James does not have the balls to make changes, and as long as he is here, we, too, will continue to be mediocre. He's only been here since 2013, but most new AD's like to clean things up to make a name for themselves when they see things going array; you know, create their own legacy...he's appears, on the otherhand, to be very content with how things are panning out and so does this admin.

To say fans and the student body do not have a voice in decision making is asinine. Michigan students boycotted games, forcing Michigan to lower ticket prices to salvage some sort of earning. The Alumni refused to donate unless changes were made. The students went to protest, publicly, garnishing national media attention. They forced the Admin's hand to make changes. We, too, need to take that approach. We're losing the recruiting battle in our own backyard...FSU is becoming Miami North. We're losing national respect as a brand. This is not a Golden issue, this is an Admin issue. From Coker, to Shannon, now to Golden, our Admin is the one that's failed us. Our "banners" need to be focused on them, not Golden.

The games are already being boycotted. They have been for years.

The idea that student's pushed at the AD is such a joke --- the only "students" that pushed him out where the one that graduated 25+ years ago and write big checks

I'm also a current student at UM, and I really hope everyone cares more about their GPA's than they do the football team. They should, because our primary objective is to learn. But that doesn't mean we don't care about football too. The biggest problem with student support is just the size of the school. Michigan has 4x the amount of students graduating per year. Also, most other schools aren't in a place that offers as much as Miami does. We aren't in a college town, not even close to one. The city of Miami isn't really going to be affected if we have a bad year in football. But if Alabama sucks, what the **** are you going to do in Tuscaloosa? If you add both those things together and the fact that we aren't very good, you don't get very good support.
You also have to consider the student that are currently attending (2015-2018) all came here while we were bad at football, so most of them probably didn't really care about football while deciding what school they'd go to as much as someone who had enrolled during the early 2000's. When you win national championships, you're going to get more people applying that view football as an important aspect in the college they want to go to. And most students coming in don't know about the incredible history our Football and Baseball program have. All of this plays a role in the student support.

Also, we probably shouldn't be compared to certain schools, just due to the type of school we are. You can't really compare us to many SEC schools because they are completely different. I mean UF is the 2nd best academic school in the SEC. Were like 8th in the ACC and have better academics than UF. You have to compare us to schools that have good academics and have a great history at football/basketball. Also it's even better if they have a small enrollment and are in a big city. Similar schools: USC/UCLA, UNC/Duke (basketball), Stanford, UF, Texas. Not too many schools that offer the blend of great night life, an athletic dept with a rich history, and good academics quite like THE U does.

dave brandon dug his own grave by telling boosters to go root for other teams if they didn't like how he was running things and for the way he handled shane morris' concussion. people at michigan have wanted him out for a long time.
