UM student newspaper: Give Al Golden a second chance

This could have been written by a Golden family member. Despite the sanctions Golden over the last 4 years has had the highest ranked recruiting classes in the coastal yet finished last last year. There are no explanations for this other than incompetence. The article is devoid of real facts .But we know all this is propaganda. If Golden doesnt show success -9 win season and win a bowl game I think he is gone.
I guarantee you Blake james was ****ed about having to put lipstick on a pig because Shalala wouldnt fire Golden. AL's leash will be very short this year.

Give Al Golden another chance

“Hurricanefans aren’t known for their patience, and they won’t stick around for long. Something good has to happen fast,” wrote sports writer Spencer Dandes in a September 2011 issue of this paper. His rebuke was directed at head football coach Al Golden, who was then just inheriting the team amidst the fallout from the Nevin Shapiro scandal that had been uncovered about a month earlier.

Four years later, nothing has changed. Impatient Hurricane fans are still touting “Fire Al Golden” and “Bring Back Butch” signs. Others are waiting on the edge of their seats to see if Golden can finally pull through a solid performance during the 2015-16 season, now that the cloud of the 2013 NCAA rulings has blown away.

Through the NCAA sanctions, the team lost nine scholarships over three years and the school self-imposed a two-year ban on bowl participation.

Golden veritably had his hands tied with regard to recruitment from when the story broke in August 2011 to when the final sanctions ruling occurred in October 2013. Rival schools poached upon South Florida talent, including future first-round pick Amari Cooper, who played high school football for Miami Northwestern, a traditional feeder for the university. Cooper committed to the University of Alabama instead, just as news of the scandal broke.

Now that some time has distanced Golden from the fallout of the NCAA probe and sanctions, he deserves this one last season to prove himself to Hurricanes fans. This is, after all, only the second year he has been able to recruit a class without the sanctions deterring promising players. Golden also has a deep and talented lineup for the 2016 recruiting class, currently ranked eighth in the nation by ESPN.

The Hurricanes should see an improvement over last year’s team that finished with a losing record for the first time since 2007. Although the offense lost several key contributors to the NFL, including Miami’s all-time leading rusher in Duke Johnson, sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya is poised to have a huge year, and the defense features skilled players all over the field. Combine the team’s development from a year ago with a lighter schedule this season, and Golden is expected to compete for the ACC Coastal division title at a minimum.

Hurricanes fans need to accept that this isn’t 2001. The team is not yet in a place to contend for national championships every single season. Prematurely firing a coach who recruits well, is liked by players and is loyal to the school would only set the team back from reaching its previous form.

Give Al Golden another chance

This is why our school has fallen. It is filled with the softest, most beta, nerdy faqqots on earth now.

Guess what folks, young skulls full of mush carry even less weight then Internet porsters. Is there a college campus that's not restricted to politically correct propaganda?

Remember that "diversity" does not include diversity of thought.

Hey come on now! Give the kids a break. Some of these guys may have been in the audience gleefully applauding Barry Soetoro's homily about impossible $2.00 gas, efficient solar panels, windmills and algae fuel. Could it be some of it is still stuck in their ears? One day some of them may figure it all out.

If they fall for that it's easy to fall for failing-coach speak. And it could also be they think analytical thinking has something to do with a body part.

moron [mawr-on]

noun (MICRO AGGRESSION WARNING!)
Psychology. (no longer in technical use; now considered offensive) a person of borderline intelligence in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, having an intelligence quotient of 50 to 69.

moran [mawr-an]

noun

Informal.
A pejorative used on football boards.

Georgia Tech hated Paul Johnson. He was 7-7 in 2012 and 7-6 in 2013. Tech fans wanted to lynch him but not with the same vitriol here. Last year he had his pieces in place and put up 11-3 record. just shows that anything is possible.

No. Anything is not possible. Al Golden winning a national championship is not possible.

Paul Johnson also went 9-4 and 10-3 in prior season. In addition they won the coastal twice and won the whole acc once under Johnson.

But forget all that and take a look at this. Here are the recruiting rankings for GT for the last 5 years:

2011 44
2012 52
2013 76
2014 56
2015 44

Look at that. When Johnson goes 7-6, well his team is really playing to their talent level. When he goes 10-3 and wins the acc, he's doing more with less. A lot more with less.

Now let's look at Miami.

2011 33
2012 10
2013 14
2014 12
2015 27

Look at that! Why are we not a top 20 team? We're not even close. Based on those rankings, when Miami goes 6-7 or 7-6 or 8-5 or whatever Al goes every god**** miserable year, we're underachieving. Al is doing less with more. And when Al gets a super easy schedule and lucks into 9-4, he's approaching a record that reflects our talent level. Al Golden and Paul Johnson are complete opposites.

This really sums it up.
Forget the "Cloud". Players still came here. Some quick math says our recruiting rank average was 19. GT's was 50. I bet Duke's wasn't much better. VT's recruiting rank average is probably in the 20's. These are all teams that have won the Coastal.
Forget wins. Only the ACC CG and a bowl win can save AG's job...that and a little defensive attitude adjustment.
