There's also some interesting stats comparing King's stats through his first 3 games compared to Kosar, Toretta, and Testaverde through 3 games.

It's been amazing to see what an impact one player has had on our team. Credit to Lashlee as well.

Hopefully the best is yet to come.

King is also a redshirt senior and they were younger with less experience, but either way, King has been impressive this season and Lashlee hasn't really been trying to pad his stats. I think as impressive as he's been, it's only going to get better as the season progresses

I love Christy, but let's analyze this first.

Yes, Kosar was a redshirt freshman. His first three games were a loss to The Gaytor, 28-3, and then victories over Houston and Purdue.

Vinny was a redshirt junior. His first three games were a loss to The Gaytor 35-23, and then victories over Rice and Boston College (avenging Hail Flutie).

Torretta was a freshman. He stepped in when Erickson got hurt in the Michigan State game, and then he started and beat Cincy and San Jose State before losing to F$U.

King is a senior, and has beaten UAB, Louisville, and F$U. I'll withhold judgment until after the Clemson game.

Bernie's accomplishments are still at the top of the list. We won a national championship with him, and also the year that Torretta started 3 games. Came close in Vinny's first year. Would love to see King do similar things as what those three experienced.

Exactly. King came in as a grown man. Also, this O is far different than what was run 30 years ago. I'd have loved to see any of our NFL caliber QBs play for Lashlee. Well, except maybe Vinny. Something about his decision making would frighten me.

Fair assessment about the class of each of the other QB's. I think the real storyline here is the impact King has had not only on a downtrodden offense but his overall impact on the team.

Yes, on that I will agree. This year was not the year to roll a freshman out there. We needed an established leader to take the position, and we are seeing that impact now.

Tough to compare as those guys played 30 years ago, needless to say it’s a different game. What hasn’t changed is the closeness and brotherhood of those past greats and the support they offer our QBs. Some of the support well received thru the years, others not so much. Our QB fraternity is like no other, ive had the pleasure of seeing it up close and in person.

It’s always tough comparing guys fro 30+ years ago to today because the game is so different. The 85 and 89 teams that Vinny and Gino played on were loaded squads. The 83 teams was probably more similar to today’s team. Good talent but not a team that anyone was predicting to win a championship pre season.
