UM Players: Defense now a strength, disruptive

we hear this every year. scary part is if Franklin was so bad. why was he hear for so long? he couldnt recruit. I mean carroll want a great coach but recruits like him.

Golden's problem is not that he is no creative. we have had games where he has at times outreached some of the best coaches and then choked. Last year of FSU is a
perfect example. he had a great game plan then pulled his foot off the petal. His problem is he is like a boxer who pulls his punches. he can't pull the trigger. its gotten worse too, his first year he had more balls. the FSU game was a HUGE loss for him

Let's not make him out to be an AA. Only for depth purposes.

Other than Corn, I Like him as a nickel better than anybody we have on our current roster. Fortunately, nickel corners aren't the premium in college football that they are in the NFL, because nobody really runs offenses that gives slots two way gos. I'd honestly like to see Deon down on the slot like the FSU game.

We line up in a 4-3, and our opponent gets a breakaway run, that 'getting downfield' is going to get pitched.

We line up in a 3-4 or 4-3, go after the QB and he throws a good long pass, 'getting downfield' is going to get pitched.

You are what you know. The passive play to bend and not break is who Al Golden is. One play, and he goes back into his old ways - what he knows.

I see what you did there. O-Line looks solid (On Paper) on a scale of 1-10 i'll say a 7.

Wr's look good (On paper) but not great we're missing an Andre Johnson Typo there. But if Kaaya's great they'll be great. Will depend on play of O-Line though.

Can't really see where I wrote that but…. Ryan Mayes hasn't impressed. Let's hope that one of the freshman cornerbacks Sheldrick Redwine, Michael Jackson and Terrance Henley is an upgrade and that the secondary stays healthy.

I actually think that the difference in our teams being 6-7 last year and 10-3 is just being an aggressive more attacking defense.

And although there is no way in **** I'll believe we are actually playing a 1 gap D and are going to be aggressive, I will say that that change could singlehandedly win us 3 more games this year.
The problem has never been the talent, it's always been the scheme. And if what they say is happening is actually happening, that is a pretty **** big scheme change on defense. Too ****ing bad it couldn't have happened in 2012.

we didn't have the talent or depth to play this style in 2012. Last year, we didn't have this type of depth either. That said, the coaches did a horrible job putting players in positions to be successful.

If you recall, the defense did play more aggressively in a couple games last year and strangely won them. EVERYONE noticed and Al promptly denied it, going back to HIS style thereafter. Same thing in nole game-- 1st half aggressive, 2nd half AL STYLE. IF we play more aggressive defense and win, Al will not allow it. He would rather lose than be proven wrong.

I don't think he cares about being proven wrong. He gets his check regardless. I think he is just scared of the big play, and rather play conservative. I think because of that style, we play non-aggressive defense, and lose games.

Al is all about pride. Sure, avoiding the big play is at core of his defensive system but that doesn't explain why he would deny changing that system when fans got excited they thought team played better. Rather that taking credit for making some adjustments, he insisted there had been no changes. And sure as ****, next game he when out there and proved it by losing. Al is only afraid of having to admit he is wrong.
