UM offers 2022 WR Jacolby Spells

Interesting tweet this morning from WVA coach Travis Trickett. He's the one who has been recruiting Jacolby Spells. They've been saying for weeks he is one of their 3 remaining silent commits- supposedly he committed to them on his OV a few weeks ago.

Are they recruiting him on offense? Weird that their offensive coach is recruiting a CB. I don't get how kids commit to schools who don't have their position coach recruiting him lol

Indiana board had the following today - interesting they seem to know miami out of it...

Spells is basically down to IU and West Virginia. We have heard that IU felt like they made up any lead that West Virginia had established when Spells made his visit. Now it is just who does he feel most comfortable with. The one thing that IU has going for them is the number of players from his area that they are after and have commitments from. Mullen and his teammate at American Heritage, Richard Thomas, are already on board. Alfonzo Allen, Kelly, Lyons, and Monds are from the same area and they all know about each other and how good each player is. If IU can get one of the remaining Broward County targets to pull the trigger it could have a snowball effect on the others.

We do it too. Position coaches have regions not specific positions. They meet and form relationships with position coaches once they visit campus.

Not sure if he ever wanted to be here. The UGA interest from the beginning was the giveaway practically begging for an offer.
Seems like local DBs are aware of how bad DB recruiting has been lately and want some crazy recruitment. Outside of Graves seems like very few S Florida DBs are really giving Miami legit interest.

Gaby said yesterday he was considering moving the CB to IU, but needed more. He isn’t coming to UM. I agree, we will be more than fine at CB.
He said IU is the sleeper and didn’t know which one between WVU and Indiana but continues to say Miami wants him. Long way to go but so odd picking those 2 schools with a better offer on the table. Indiana football atmosphere is boring as ****
