UM offers 2022 #1 CB Khamauri Rogers (COMMITS!)

From this morning:

It is time to make another crystal ball prediction for a key Miami Hurricanes football 2022 recruiting target.

We are logging a Miami crystal ball pick for four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers out of Holmes County (MS) High School.

Rogers visited Coral Gables on June 1st on an unofficial visit for a cookout on the UM campus. All indications are that the visit went very well as Rogers was able to get face time with cornerbacks coach DeMarcus Van Dyke and secondary coach Travaris Robinson. He also spent plenty of time with 2021 signees, quarterback Jake Garcia and safety James Williams.

The decision will be made by Rogers, but his family is on-board with him attending Miami if that is where he wants to go.

Rogers plans to make a return trip to Coral Gables for an official visit on the June 18th weekend.

Ole Miss currently leads on the crystal ball for Rogers. Tennessee is also considered a major player in the recruitment at this stage.

Miami wants to add depth and talent at the cornerback position in this 2022 cycle and adding Rogers would certainly help accomplish that. Rogers ranks as the No. 66 overall player in the country, according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

During the 2019 season, Rogers totaled 46 tackles, 22 pass break-ups and four interceptions. In 2020, he was credited with 30 tackles, three pass break-ups and two interceptions as opposing offenses decided to not test him as much.

The Hurricanes signed only one cornerback in the 2021 class with three-star Ft. Myers Bishop Verot cornerback Malik Curtis joining the team this summer. It is a big position of need for UM in this 2022 cycle.
You don't say no to T-Rob when the other Challenger is Ole **** you just don't

Obviously if he does in fact select us, I'm sure TRob will get a lot of the credit. But really looking forward to seeing DVD develop here. I know there was talk of DVD being a stud recruiter so if he goes out and backs that up then we could be set up for long term success at the DB position.

He is VERY involved here and has been for a while.

Good news but always take these crystal balls with a grain of salt. A Fond crystal ball carries a little more weight than the local team 247 reporters. At this point, it basically means we lead which is great. I want to see Rogers get through all of his visits before I get too excited.

T-Rob, DVD and Ish all have a very relatable personality. They know how to talk to players, to parents, to high school coaches, they appreciate you and they sell what they do, what they want to do and what they want to achieve, well.

Players love all three of them.

Wiltfong put in a lock for LSU a while back so I don't think he can change his prediction.

I'm not being negative here, but he's been downgraded to the #6 corner by the websites.

What changed and where's the big dawg powerhouses on this kid? #6 is typically a top offer list recruit and we're competing with Ole Miss and Tennessee?

Maybe it was covered in here somewhere. Just wondering what that's about? I also realize this thread was started two years ago approximately.

He's CB'd to Miami. Automatic downgrade.

I've been wondering the same myself. He was committed to LSU and don't know if he left on his own or was pushed out but they have 3 cbs committed now.LSU likes big physical corners and Rogers is about 5-11 168.

He has a very slight build and finesse playstyle. Best-case scenario he turns into an Adoree Jackson type. 247 has him CB14 which is probably fair.

Speed has been a bigger priority at corner recently. Bama and Georgia like bigger-framed corners with more press potential.

When Feagans pops to the midget he’ll automatically be a top 3 cb in the country

An Adoree Jackson type should be a home run for us. Let’s hope Rogers can come here, win the Thorpe & then go collect a 40 mil contract in the pro’s lol!

He'll be 180-185 in no time, not worried about it, but its gonna be nice having someone whose technically proficient day 1 which will be a necessity considering TS will be 1 and done after this season.
Not worried about size or getting coached up, my odd concern with him is adapting to Miami. We historically do not do great with some of the kids from the country. I think D$ had a post on it last year where he broke down a lot of our rural southeastern US players and def more bust than hit rate.
