Yeah, but who put Butch in that position? No knock on The Butch at all but I think Jimmy is the GOAT talent evaluator of our time. Butch learned from the best!!As much as I love Jimmy, just so you know, it was Butch who was in charge of his recruiting.and initial evals.
Jimmy had a natural way to sitting down with the moms and dads of players he wanted and convincing them that he would respect them and make them better. He was a full blown down to earth person and those parents trusted him. There's more to Jimmy's history than games and wins.Yeah, but who put Butch in that position? I pray he outlives me cause I don’t want to be in a world without Jimmy Johnson in it.
I'd like to see it adjusted for total games coached...
Jimmy is 4-1 vs #1 in 10 years/118 games:They should list out of how many total college coaches games they have too. Jimmy getting 4 in 10 yrs as a college HC is more impressive than the others. And really it was all at Miami so only 5 yrs
You wanna know another HOF QB Jimmy recruited...I could imagine a CIS in the late 80’s ripping Jimmy apart for not landing Aikman in the transfer and losing him to UCLA of all places.
“Fly the planes…”
“Hack…”
“Can’t recruit for chit…”
There’s a reason why almost every successful football coach in America tries to make the pilgrimage down to Islamorada every offseason with the hopes of meeting with him and getting the chance to pick the brain of one of the greatest football minds the game has ever seen.Jimmy had a natural way to sitting down with the moms and dads of players he wanted and convincing them that he would respect them and make them better. Or even Butch. If Jimmy had stayed and even Howard for that matter I gotta believe we’d be in double figures in CFC….
