UM Head Coach is now a $4m/year Job

I'm not claiming he is.
I'm stating the UM HC job, currently, was a $4mil/yr position. IOW, we should have been willing to pay that much to another coach were they suitably qualified, just like any other school/business/etc would. I have no clue how much these idiots are paying Diaz.

Again, that ignores the fact that we paid Richt 4 mil without an OC, and with a lot of scrubs as assistants.

If your goal is to pay the HC 4mil but not hire an OC, then yeah, you’re right, we could have found a much better HC.

It’s over with. He is the coach. He was not on my list either. However it is now time to move on and get behind him. He deserves a chance with the fans. If he hires bad coordinators then the criticism should start. If he does not perform on the field then the criticsism should intensify. But can we just give it a break for a couple of days ?

Well if he is keeping Panda as DC or co DC then that shows he is hiring bad coordinators.

Al Golden was more accomplished than Manny and made 2.4 mil. If Manny makes more than 2.7 it's ridiculous.

Present your evidence this was the school refusing to pay for other coaches/assistants, vs Bicht not wanting OC and picking his own "scrubs"

Who the **** cares whose decision it was? What we know is that we paid 4 mil to Richt and had no OC and paid our other assistants mediocre salaries at best.

Do you think it was Richt’s call to pay the assistants mediocre salaries? Or do you think perhaps he was given a budget to work with?

That begs the question how many Top 25 teams went backwards and reduced their hired HC salary to put themselves into title contention?
Riley perhaps?

IOW you have zero evidence to support your original specious contention.

It was Bicht's call to not hire an OC BECAUSE HE STATED HE WANTED TO BE OC. Part of why he's gone.

Oklahoma
UGA (Rick was making 4 mil at UGA at time of termination, then hired Smart at 3.75 mil)
Clemson- Swinney hired for 900k in 2009, Bowden was making at least 2.25 mil
LSU (Miles to Orgeron)
UCF (frost 2 mil, Heupel 1.7 mil)

Elite company

We asked for the avatar and you complied!! You’re a true man of the people! Well done!
Just needed some time, things happened kind of fast yesterday.
Happy Bicht gone, dunno about Manny, we'll see. Blake/school still a total clusterfluck

Dude, you're using circular logic here.

You have no evidence of how the admin worked the deal with Richt, or how they work the budget for the entire coaching staff. Yet you're acting like you do, and you're badgering me for evidence, lol.

Here's the only evidence either of us has: We paid Richt 4 mil, had no OC, and paid our other assistant coaches mediocre at best.

No way he's getting 4 mil.

Richt got 4 mil, and that's why we had no $$ for OC, paid his boy Jon peanuts, and had relatively little $$ for other coaches.

My hope is that he's getting around 2.5, and we can spread that other 1.5 around to upgrade OC/DC and position coaches.
Richt had $1 mil for an OC and Diaz was offered $1.5 mil to stay as DC.

Money isn’t an issue, and hasn’t been. Let it go.

One other thing of note and I think it needs a lot of attention. @Dwinstitles posted that video yesterday and the core point is stacking chips, primarily in the trenches.

THIS HAS TO CHANGE OR MANNY WILL NEVER BEAT THE BAMAS, CLEMSONS, ETC.

We NEED to go after the top guys on both sides of the line and find a way to be successful, PERIOD. These big time programs arent playing by the rules, and it's time to play the same game.

He hasn't proven in three years that he can consistently land the highly-rated guys in the trenches, which is something we should be worried about. We are obviously struggling to land sought after recruits on the OL and at DT. The elites are stacked with these guys and the teams you mentioned along with UGA are killing us in these recruiting battles. We are light years away in many aspects compared to the Bamas and Clemsons of the world. I have serious doubts that this hire is going to close the gap.

This. Frankly Manny would be smart as **** to take that deal. More money and bigger job than Temple obviously and tons of money to hire the best offensive staff possible. Great deal for both sides if Manny makes good OC/O-Staff hires..

ALSO seeing as Blake/UM should have had ALL the leverage in this negotiation with Diaz i sincerely hope they negotiated a very small buyout number. So if Diaz ***** this up, we can drop him quick in 2-3 years. If Blake gave him a massive $10M+ buyout then we are ****ed if this goes wrong.

Trust me.....if they are paying him north of $2.5 million, they are truly the dumbest sons of ******* on the planet.

I'm a simple guy, so...my remedial math skills says that frees up 1.5 million ON TOP OF what they are already willing to pay assistants now. That means we can hire an OC EASILY at 1.25 million which is where Alabama's Mike Locksley currently resides. Really, $1.5 shouldn't be a stretch though not necessary, especially when we could replace and bump something clearly crucial for quite some time...YES...that would be OL coach.

Now, for those who want to laugh at trying to pay what Alabama may pay an assistant...

#1. F-k off;

#2. With an unproven DC at the CEO spot it is absolutely critical to get somebody that is proven as OC...

#3. Proven costs $$$...

#4. Thank you Stacy, you have been a great guy, good luck at your next stop.....bring in somebody that can freakin build a true OL, pay him what he freakin deserves...and lets move on.
