It was punched loose by the first puncher before it crossed. Second puncher knocked it further away from his body.

the fumble call was bad but IMO, the "timeout" that wasnt a timeout was worse. It couldn't have been more obvious that Kirby was calling for time. Freeze kept trying to get the referee to look up at the jumbotron and he refused. That was egregious.

On College Football Final (ESPN), they didn’t show the angle of the ball crossing the GL although Joey Galloway did say it looked like it went in.

They also didn’t show the timeout fiasco.
