That LBer Trio was without question, the Best in CFB History. You had an AA LBer covering opposing teams slot receivers step for step. not only is that a huge help to a secondary, but it literally forces the QB to become one dimensional in the passing game. Sonny Lubick will always be my favorite DC....

Sonny Lubick and Tommy Tubbs. The 1991 team would beat the 2001 team.

Their 2008 “dream team” didn’t even go undefeated they lost a game to unranked Ole Miss in Gainesville that season. Miami’s run from 2000-2003 is far and away better than this. The SEC argument is also invalid because the SEC was good and rising again at the time but it wasn’t what it is today.

Their claim to being better is because they think Tebow was some sort of god. They bash Ken Dorsey. What did Tebow do in the NFL?? Tebow is a college legend don’t get me wrong but the arguments they make are invalid.

RB
Miami - Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Najeh Davenport & Jarret Payton
Florida - Rainey & Demps

WR/TE
Florida had Percy Harvin as their AP star who I’ll give credit is one of the most electric players I’ve ever seen along with Reggie Bush and Peter Warrick. But overall we had Dre who s*** on any UF receiver ever. That’s not even to count Santana and Reggie the year before. Beard, Sands and Jones. TE we had Shockey and Winslow who are both better than Hernandez.

OL
Pouncey twins were good but McKinnie is better than any OL to play CFB in the 2000s. Our OL as a whole demolishes any OL I’ve seen in CFB since those early 80s Nebraska teams. Romberg won rimington award the following season.

The 01 OL was too good. The RBs… WRs, OMG… the TEs would give the 91 Defense absolutel fits!

Smith and Armstead could run with any WR in the country that year. Barrow was the slowest of the 3 and he had some wheels himself and would lay the wood to anyone who came across the middle. Just ask Amp Lee ans Tamarick Vanover…

Those old Miami-FSU games from 91 and 92 was something else. Hard hitting games some of the best defensive football you’ll ever see.

In any conversation i have ever had regarding the best college teams, nobody has ever tried to add those teams to the conversation. not once ever. And this isn’t a miami fan hating because its the gators thing, and I am talking in different parts of the country with people who are indifferent to any rivalry between miami and florida. I don’t think many people but gator fans thinks those teams are even inside the top 25 teams of all time, depending on how far back you want to go. they couldnt even run their own schedule, **** out of here.

*BCS screwed Miami out of Nat’l Title Bid in 2000 (NY Times recognize The Canes as Nat’l Champions)

Even if I wasn’t a die hard Cane fan, as a fan of college football, that 4 yr stretch of greatness from Miami is undeniable. UF from 2006-09 had a great run, I won’t hate on them. Also, they did have a slight higher margin of victory than us during this period at 26.4 vs. our 25.8. Fact is, our QB play fell precipitously off in the 2003 which plummeted our margin of victory. Other than that, we had one undefeated season, two one-loss seasons (should’ve been two undefeated seasons), & didn’t lose no more than 2 games in a season during that four year stretch.

Now, if imma be completely 100, as far as a dominant 4 yr stretch:

The 94-97 Huskers have an argument. They only lost two games during that stretch, & won 3 titles. The 87-90 Canes would have that same dominance if not for a bull chit call in South Bend. And once again, if u consider who we produced during that time period to the NFL vs. Nebraska, again it’s not even up for debate.
