UF HIRES McElwain

Nebraska looking at Tressel...

Schools want to win.. But we are fine with 7 wins a year

It does not take really good coaches very long to win.

McElwain proved that. He won 8 in year 2 and 10 by year 3.

All Folden does is make excuses....the cloud this, the cloud that. Too many night games.

WTF does the cloud have to do with coaching on Saturdays?

McElwain is very good coach. Will get good players because it's Florida. The Big 2 will always be a thorn in our side unless we make a move and go with Schiano.

Well when he benches treon for will Grier it will probably make some south Florida people mad... Oh wait that's only when Miami does that

Mcelwain is a good coach. He's bern part of or has run a successful offense everywhere he's been. They'll have a more exciting offense for sure. They'll keep Durkin and TRob on defense to assist. It's a nice hire for them.

He's a very good coach. Career trajectory is very similar to Jimbos.

But he's not Urban. He's not a slam dunk. They'll be way better but who knows if that wins them the SEC.

Good summary. Sensible choice but not a certainty. You just don't know how tough and ruthless and prepared he'll be when asked to win a string of difficult games in SEC company.

As I've mentioned, I liked him for our role in late 2010 and was posting that on Rivals. It was difficult to believe that Mike Leach was receiving serious consideration when a guy like McElwain was potentially available, given the exponentially superior offensive schemes and balance.

Now that I'm not in Las Vegas full time anymore I don't see Colorado State nearly as much as previously. All the glimpses have looked good, along with the numbers.

I think it was a terrible hire. Dude is a pompous *** that doesn't bring anything great to the table. He's done a good job at Colorado St. but that aint the SEC. He isn't a dynamic recruiter, isn't a genius X's and O's. He'll be an avg. at best coach there.

This is not a slam dunk hire and I would not be happy with his hire here.

P.S. he's married to Bobby Petrino's sister

Very few coaches are a slam dunk but they got a guy that comes from the saban tree and already has HC experience. He's going to do very well up there.

He will be a very good hire for the gates, sadly.

Big fcking deal. Gayturds will be better but Butch will recruit circles around this guy.

Welcome to SoFla crooting son.

I don't think he is all that great of a hire. He may have won 10 games but he isn't in the MWC Title Saturday. I think he became a hot commodity when the available coaches this season weren't all that great. He will be a consistent 9 game winner. Not another Meyer. I just think it's an average hire.

I have to admit, I'm jealous. Not because I know anything about this guy, just because they have hope.

Yep, at least schools like Michigan, Nebraska, and Florida make changes....Miami just doesn't care, thats the most depressing part

c'mon we know what the difference is between those schools and Miami. Just look how their stadiums fill up for middle tier games vs ours(and that is on us fans no excuse). That def. helps with the money influx, Miami seems to be in a bind. Surely if Miami had the money right now Golden would be out.
