UF’s OL concerns

My .02 on the comparison vs the position group they will be going against.

UM OL > UF DL
UM DL > UF OL
UM RB/TE > UF LB
UM LB > UF RB/RE
UM WR slight > UF Secondary. I trust Cam to spread the ball around.

UF WR > UM Secondary. Having UM DL helps, but I worry about broken tackles and missed assignments until they have proven themselves.

Good guys have multiple advantages, but will need to take it to them from jump. Can’t let them hang around and keep crowd around.
UM OL > UF DL
UM DL > UF OL
UM RB/TE > UF LB
UM LB = UF RB/RE
UM WR = UF Secondary. Ward needs to be the difference to give us the advantage here.
UF WR > UM Secondary.
UM QB > UF Defense
UF QB = UM DEFENSE

Break them.

It aint the defense that I’m worried about on 8/31 …
Fatcs brother.

I have no doubt we are more talented than them.

But, what type of coaching game are we going to come out with? Smashmouth? (Which inherently shortens a game and minimizes the margin of talent requiring a perfectly executed gm?). Yea, if that's the route we go, while better, I'm still in wait and see mode.

Now, if Mario had a Saban like epitome and realized more space and pace is the name of the game (for those wanting to attack this, notice i said space and pace not pass happy). Yea we can beat these jokers by 21.

But, based of Michigan proving to Mario that smashmouth style works, I'm not expecting that change. So I'm prepared for an absolute dogfight.

What is the O/U on our Miami Hurricanes having any timeouts left by start of 2Q?

O/U of any timeouts remaining by midway through 3Q?

OR....

Do all 3 timeouts stay in reserve when time expires at end of 4Q?

Complicated parlay here.

I felt that UF didn’t have a pass rush before their scrimmage notes and it seems it’s the same. They have very large DTs but our interior OL has major size also. I don’t think these DEs they have will generate much pressure if any. I do think Shemar is a very good college LB so we just need to make sure we get to the second level quickly.

I’m not saying I’d take their WR group over ours, but it’s one of the only position groups that you could make the case for either and I’d listen.
Nah, it’s not even close to being a discussion. Let’s just say Badger and Brown equal each other out even though Brown was significantly more productive at his old school than Badger was. Then they have Wilson who while talented averaged under 9 yards per reception last year. That’s laughable for any wide receiver. We’ve got X and George who combined for almost 2000 yards last year. All while playing half a season with a broken TVD and/or the combination of Emory Williams and Jacurri Brown. They have some decent potential but we have a ton of proven production.

The only reason the line is so close is because Vegas expects us to continue to struggle in areas related to coaching (ST, penalties, clock management, general buffonery.) Until Mario clears that stench from this team Vegas will knock a TD off the spread from jump. We play a clean game and we will blow them off the field. Expect some stupid **** though cause well... it is likely. Cause y'know Vegas is right more often than not.
Miami gunna Miami, meng.

I've thought this way about Mario for a while, but I actually have some hope this year. First, we had that open offense we've wanted through the first few games last year until TVD blew a fuse...it seems like that's exactly what you wanted to do. Second, I don't think Ward would have come without some kind of assurance he'd have a chance to throw it around some.

I'd be shocked if we didn't pass a good bit more this season than we did last.

We passed an adequate amount last year.
34th in passes per game. More than FSU, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, and Ohio State

The problem is creativity in the running game, and when we run, IMO.

If not mistaken...it was almost 50-50 pass vs run calls.

That includes games w a true freshmen QB whose pass attempts were kept as limited as possible. I think the passing numbers would’ve been beefed up if the starting QB didn’t get the yips.

Not sure what gives me the impression that we are going to be blitzing alot during this game, but I think guidry is going to send the house often.

I think the exact opposite. Probably the biggest mismatch in the entire game on either side is our front 4 versus their OL, specifically the edge players. They couldn’t protect Mertz for **** last year, and he can’t move. If there is one question mark on our team, it’s the DBs. No reason to expose them more than you need to. Obviously there will times when he brings 5+, but if you can get home with 4, then help out your inexperienced DBs and let the best pass rush in the country feast on a ****** line protecting a kid wearing cement cleats.

Someone mentioned our DLine getting their hands up and knocking down passes. Anyone think that hearing good things about Campbell starting to figure it out will get more run with the 2nd unit? Guy is 6’7, seems ideal for deflecting short passes if he doesn’t get to the QB. Also, Baron is 6’5 on the outside can get his hands up and knock them down too. Just a thought

That’s the first thing I noticed about Manny’s defense when he came here in 2016. Our d line batted down so many balls at the LOS. **** I think there were at least 4-5 against FSU. It was really nice seeing that.
