UF’s OL concerns

Mertz will be looking for the short stuff all afternoon.
Man, we better press the **** out of their receivers.
That’s what they need all last season. Mertz isn’t capable of pushing the ball downfield. He completes a high percentage of short passes but when mistakes and blocking get them behind the sticks and he can’t bail them out.

Napier probably gonna use the Louisville game last year as a blueprint. A lot of misdirection, pre snap movement, quick stuff, and an occasional down field shot out of an unconventional formation.

I saw a stat somewhere that said he throws an uncatchable deep ball at the highest rate like 45% or something lol

They claimed they were going to push the ball down the field more this year but when he was at Wisconsin that’s when he threw interceptions. So I doubt this Tiger changes its stripes even with Badger and Wilson

he's a trusted source ... he's also concerned about their edge ... we got to keep choppin wood ... but ray charles can see this is setting up nicely

I've become obsessed about this UF game. Not only is it vital to momentum, it feels like it could slingshot us back into national prominence if we have a dominating performance. Cam will start being talked about as a Heisman if he can drop 35-40 on them.

I've definitely gone overboard and even listened to Locked On Gators and a few other YT podcasts. The consensus seems to be that the San Diego State transfer is their only real option at RT and they're not sure he is P4 material, much less able to go against top DEs. They ALSO have a problem at Center, haven't even settled on the starter yet. And trust me, this isn't question marks like we have with Carpenter. This is, Oh ****, question marks.

On the other side of the ball, the Gators are hugely disappointed about losing one of their rotational NGs to injury during yesterday's scrimmage. Apparently, he was fighting for starting snaps and that competition was what was pushing the fat guys into losing weight. They're talking about having to depend on true freshmen on the DL. Again, I know we had to do that with Bain. But how many Bains are there out there, and he didn't really get going until the UNC game. Conclusion -- they're still going to be finding their identity when they face us.

I’m not saying I’d take their WR group over ours, but it’s one of the only position groups that you could make the case for either and I’d listen.

Their WRs and Ss are the two groups that are as good as ours, and a Gator could even argue may be better when comparing individuals. They're saying Marshal has finally regained his confidence and is playing lights out. Don't know enough about the rest of their CBs. But it's not ludicrous to argue their entire DB group is as good or better than ours. They have a really good kicker and punter, too.

Meanwhile, we have a clear advantage at every other group: QB, OL, RB, TE, DE, DT, LB. Don't know about return game comparison, but UF was known for ******** up STs all season long last year.

All things equal, we really should beat them by 2+ TDs. Home turf may keep the score close if we don't jump out ahead of them. But I just cannot see Mertz keeping up with Ward with our defenders in his face all game long.

Break them.

It aint the defense that I’m worried about on 8/31 …
same ... was telling a friend that "who just gave us work?" (pause) ... the kid at unc ... louisville got us, and the monongai kid from rutgers ... outside of that we played good defense, in some cases on short fields do to TO's

My .02 on the comparison vs the position group they will be going against.

UM OL > UF DL
UM DL > UF OL
UM RB/TE > UF LB
UM LB > UF RB/RE
UM WR slight > UF Secondary. I trust Cam to spread the ball around.

UF WR > UM Secondary. Having UM DL helps, but I worry about broken tackles and missed assignments until they have proven themselves.

Good guys have multiple advantages, but will need to take it to them from jump. Can’t let them hang around and keep crowd around.

Their center Slaughter was the only guy they felt stable about? What changed? He came in and played really well for a ****** OL

Our WRs don't play against their WRs.

Our S don't play against their S.

The only reason the line is so close is because Vegas expects us to continue to struggle in areas related to coaching (ST, penalties, clock management, general buffonery.) Until Mario clears that stench from this team Vegas will knock a TD off the spread from jump. We play a clean game and we will blow them off the field. Expect some stupid **** though cause well... it is likely. Cause y'know Vegas is right more often than not.
