I heard the dumbest **** on a podcast from a fan..they said the pass from the Gun is a longer distance for a defense to get to the Qb than under center..in the gun a Qb is 4 yards from the center..at the end of a 3step drop a QB is around 5 yards from the original point..a 5 step your 7 yard away..this is common knowledge

Point is..if the oline is trash it doesn’t matter if your In the Gun or dropping back..the routes still has to develop down field..being in the Gun doesn’t make the routes down field develop any quicker..therefore the timing is the same, unless your working the flats, quick screen game all game long..being under center does help with the ball being in more of a rthym tho..we couldn’t even run the wishbone rn..and that quickest O you can possibly run

It’s the spread scheme and concepts that levels the playing field for a team with a bad oline. Being in the gun as well as a million other factors is why running the spread would have us ranked in the Top 25 right now. Us running the pro style offense is like Wisconsin running the Air Raid.
 
Anyone else notice the official was walking with his right foot on the yellow line...then before putting the ball down he slid left a little to avoid a player and never went back to the yellow line?

The shotgun gives a little extra distance if you have a porous line. It's not a panacea, but would work well for quick slant passes. If it were me, I'd run both and add as much misdirection and motion as I could because confusion is the only other tool you have available.

We can debate the benefits of one approach vs the other ad nauseam, but one thing is certain. Neither will completely solve the problem.

In stating this, you are essentially saying you want the Enos offense. That is what being multiple is. There are motions and the QB works from both the gun and under center. At this point he just needs to figure out better what's working and when with our players.
