Tyson Campbell recruitment??

This thread right here....lol

Look, I agree, it's not all about the rankings; we've seen plenty of high 4 and 5 star guys underwhelm...but bump what ur talking about regarding Campbell! I don't care how deep So Fla is w DBs this cycle, Campbell is an island w no landing pad. Dude shuts down a side of the field and his body frame will lend him to be a faster Richard Sherman. Imma say this again: HE NEEDS TO BE IN THIS CLASS.

If Surtain bolts, not losing sleep. If Campbell is dawning any helmet besides the []_[] on the side of it, I would be sorely disappointed. No; one recruit don't make or break a class, but u gotta be tired of supreme talent going to other schools! Pipelines to other schools needs to stop...now. I get it if Surtain goes to LSU....daddy gets his wish, and family is from that way...but TC is from So Fla, family r Canes fans, and he was dang near raised in this football game by Rumph! This would be one of the biggest kicks in the nuts I can recall if he goes anywhere but Miami.

Love TC dude has that closing speed I like, no YAC with the class coming in

this is pretty much how u build a title

Every team to win the championship in at least the past 10 years have had at least 50% of their team consist of 4 and 5 star players.

Not really. The numbers are just too great for the "experts" to legitimately see and evaluate everyone. Think about it -- there are thousands of H.S. football players in the state of Florida alone. And football is much different than basketball. In B-ball, it's obvious that a Shaq, Kobe, or Lebron is going to be a stud. For H.S. football players, it's extremely hard for individuals to stand out like that. So many talented kids just don't get noticed for a variety of reasons.

Of course, on average, you'd rather get higher-rated players. But there are still lots of players out there that go unnoticed/underrated. You shouldn't be so quick to discount a player because of an "expert's" ranking.
I️ completely agree, but as you and I️ have stated it’s a percentage game. To completely brush off highly ranked guys because one out of ten might turn out as good is lunacy. Recruiting guys aren’t the best, but the system is making millions for a reason — because they’ve gotten pretty good at predicting future success of 16-18 year olds.
You think colleges recruit from rivals rankings?

Rankings aren't everything, but show me that last NC who wasn't consistently getting top 10 classes. If you're smart and good, you go after and land mostly 4/5* guys with a few 3* that you think can be made into something despite being short or slow or whatever.
Do you think umbrellas cause rain?

I think you can't refute anything I've said.

I already have. You just don't understand the point.

I agree with the stance on Campbell, surtain shouldn’t be seen as nothing more as a Hail Mary chance but it could possibly work in our favor if he doesn’t want to go far from home, the season we are having, rumph coaching his position and all of his friends are likely coming here(Campbell, silvera, chatfield). Regardless the db class is elite with or without surtain

You can't. You haven't. You won't.

After watching lowly 3 and 4 stars balling out everywhere including for us, I don't care where 5 star kids like Tyson and Pat go. It doesn't even matter. Florida is so **** deep at this position it's crazy.

It's idiotic to try to categorize the DB talent in this state. Once you reach a certain level of athlete, it's a mfing crapshoot as to who will succeed or fail in college.

A class of Miguel Edwards, Wildgoose, keidron smith, Divaad Wilson, Stanley Garner, and Troutman could easily end up to be better than the one we are expecting. And I'm probably leaving out another 5 names that no one really talks about who will blow up elsewhere.

Been saying this for years. You don't always have to get the 5 star guys ....just be good enough in your evils to get guys that will project well every year and you'll be fine. Butch Davis did with guys like Reggie Wayne, moss and Ed reed.
This is in no way realistic in 2017. If you thought those guys were diamonds in the rough, you better believe there are far less of them. The numbers speak for themselves in that you NEED to recruit highly ranked kids to have continued success. While the “evaluators” on these sites are not “professionals” they sure as **** have figured out a better way of projecting players than they used to.

Our best CB is an unkown 3* out of Alabama who was a plan B-C guy. If a player has what you are looking for and you can coach and develop them then you have a winning recipe. It is nice to have 4-5* guys and they have their place but a 3* CB from Miami who played against all elite talent and held his own is worth looking at also.

While Michael Jackson wasn't that heralded, he was a 4 star.

Nah he was a 3*

Yup, Michael Jackson was a 3 star. And none of Jaquan, Kendrick, RJ, Joe Jackson, Shaq, Pinckney, Bandy, Young, et al were top 100 players in the country out of H.S.

While, on average, you want the higher-ranked player, there are so many exceptions that it's absurd to blindly trust rankings.

Stars are utterly irrelevant when it comes to db talent in Florida and worrying about Tyson or pat is a total waste of time. You can fall *** backwards into fast players who can cover down here. There are 20 Florida kids this year who could end up to be better in college than either of these 5 stars.

Rj was hideously underrated. Malek was a 3 star. Bandy barely snuck in as a 4 star. Quarterman and Pinckney were 3 star kids. No one knew who Trent Harris was. The list goes on and on.

Stop Trent Harris was a consensus 4 star recruit out of Winter park fl, Quarterman was just outside the top 100, Pinckney was a 3 star tho I'll give u that... Some of u don't follow recruiting hard don't pretend too...

There are def some 4* and top 250 kids on that list though...Johnson/Quatermann/...maybe JJax and Bandy

Kendrick Norton was a 3 star. Even Jon Garvin was hideously underrated. Amari carter was a 3 star. So was Derrick Smith, nobody wanted this kid cause they just looked at the stars and assumed he was too slow to play safety.

It goes on and on.

If we are going by the 247 composite Shaq was at 111 and was a Rivals 100 player.
https://247sports.com/Player/Shaquille-Quarterman-29336

In terms of Mike Jackson, he was a 4 star on rivals, but the composite did say 3 star.

Toolbox was a 4 star composite
https://247sports.com/player/trent-harris-23274

Trajan Bandy was a top247 composite 4 star, hardly barely a 4 star. Rivals had him at 109

Miami doesn't need to follow the Ohio State or FSU model of loading up on hyped up OOS 5 stars. Just keep the best from South Florida add a little help from elsewhere and you're dominating yearly. Also, not all recruiting stars are equal, South Florida three star's can still be elite talents (ex. Perryman, McIntosh).

The difference, let me rephrase, the BIG difference now, is we have a very good coaching staff, who see the strength that each kid has, and gets the most out of that kid. Our previous 2 staffs did not elevate the strengths that these kids had to reach their maximum potential. We may have had some good position coaches in the past, but the superiors did not let them run the scheme they wanted and had the position coach to coach the player a certain way, which was not getting the most out of the kid. These coaches now all have one common sight for offense and defense, respectively. Special teams needs some work, so I'm looking at you Coach Hartley.

How many 3 star south Florida kids are in the NFL? Plenty
But How many 5 star south florid kids are program changers?
I know a lot of people say they would take a 3 start sofla kid over a 5 star form somewhere else; so that's a reason to not worry if a sofla 5 star leaves to bama or UGA?
I am sick of of can't miss kids leaving to other schools. One player can make a huge difference in college football and do we really need to give the countless examples of the sofla kids that breath life into other programs. Despite bama having 5 star recruits all over the field, Ridley basically kept bama in the playoffs last game WITH 171yds receiving that was almost 40% of their total offense for the game! This sh..t needs to stop. We cant just say we can make it to the playoffs with 3 star sofla kids. Yes I also prefer the Garvins and Pinckneys over higher rated kids form oos but to say no sweat if TC goes to another school is straight dumb.

Malek was a three star but played in the army game so he wasnt some hidden gem, we knew Bandy was a dog Shaq was highly recruited and Pickney I dont know......Trent was a toolbox guy with potential and RJ mac was not an unknown in sfla.........sometimes fans here know more than the services especially when it comes to sfla kids. Think RJ had Clemson and bama offers, I dont know how hard they were recruiting him though so Im not sure there. We knew these kids were ballers, like we know that Greg kid in this years class is under rated. Doesnt mean u stop recruiting the brevin jordans or Mallory's or Lingards or Halls or Jobes.......u sign them asap
