He can get the $6.5 and then the $18-29 or more if has a good year with Canes. It is called betting on yourself.

Even if it was his hometown or close (which others have pointed out that it’s not) Miami has a far better track record the last couple years, putting QBs in the NFL, than Tennessee
 
There are a couple things that may work in Miami's favor. There is a correlation with the number of college games started and success in the NFL. He has only 1 year which could impact him.

The other case is what if he were to fall in the draft to the 2nd round? There is a steep drop in that case.

If he were to get drafted near the top of the 2nd round the contract is significantly worse.

Joshua Dobbs 2017 for Vols

Since your post was not talking about position in the draft but instead of "putting QBs in the NFL". I was wondering, how is Tennessee "far better"?

Am I missing players?

I was accounting for Beck this year as well, but I was saying Miami is better, not Tennessee

Agreed. That’s why it’s important to understand how confident those projected first‑round grades actually are.

Is he being told there’s a 60% chance he goes in the first round and a 40% chance he slips? If so, that makes the $6M option look much more appealing.

Or is he hearing there’s an 80–90% chance he’ll be drafted in the first round? In that scenario, entering the draft is probably the better choice.

Teams are desperate for qbs because nothing matters more in the nfl, if you don’t have a good qb you will suck. In college you need one too but its easier to win in spite of the qb

And rookie qbs have been doing well, there is never going to be a 100% hit rate. Daniels, caleb, nix, maye all are good.

When I wrote that, I was talking very recent, not Kaaya days.

Well obviously Ward was #1 overall.

Beck will likely go mid rounds at some point.

Tennessee had the whole Nico issue (wasn’t their fault but still looks bad)

And hooker was decent, but in terms of this year and last year, Miami is a better choice.

2 drafted QB’s in 2 years, one went #1 overall, the other likely 3-4 round which was a huge reclamation project considering what happened with Beck last year.

Combine that with the o-line, receivers and defense. It’s a no brainer

But Beck isn't the argument. Your comment said "track record" which alludes to in the past, and you said far better. And your post has nothing to do with where they were taken in the draft but just that they were indeed drafted. And Miami does not have a far better track record.

Agreed. I don’t see a whole lot of standouts in next years QB class either, could easily solidify himself as a top 10 pick

Ty’s dad Jason is the Head Coach of the University of Tennessee at Martin. Ty would have been at TN if Pruitt had not been fired. TN offered his brother Graham a few days ago and Heupel was in Martin a few days ago. That being said Ty is going pro
 
If only we recruited top tier HS quarterbacks that people on here claim we shouldn't spend $1M+ on... Oregon has no problem signing raiola to backup moore and had moore to backup dillion Gabriel. Our QB room is a mess due to a refusal to spend the right resources for the most important position on the field. Every other big school has talent stacked at the position and we still keep playing russian roulette and it may finally bite us. Maybe this will finally wake the staff up... They were never okay with emory starting no matter how anyone tries to spin it... Their offers in the portal show that.
