Ty Simpson (has declared for the draft)

Anyone consider what if he got seriously hurt playing one more year of College ball…..

He’s gone, move on.

That’s why it’s a gamble.

Odds of him getting hurt are slim getting sacked less than 15 times a year.

Or he plays lights out and goes 1st overall with 55mil fully guaranteed contract.

OR take the 6.5 mil this year and still go 1-2nd round next year and make the same money

Or he’s just scared to bet on himself, which if he is he should just say so and that he’s a Cotton headed ninny muggin.

Or he might just be scared to go through the ACC gauntlet. I understand not everyone is built for it. He might have gotten so used to weak competition and as soon as he played a bottom tier ACC team, it was brutal.

Jaxson Dart was the 25th pick.
Here is his contract. That’s a lot of guaranteed money to say no to.
There is no way he gives that up.
We are focusing on the wrong dude imo.
Take the glasses off.

Now, you can insure him for that amount if he gets hurt and pay him more than 4 mili for one year.
But then you’re asking him to risk being an nfl player which is what he’s bee working in his entire life.
What are the odds of becoming an nfl qb who’s drafted in the first round?

Astrofckngnominal!

There likely have been several hundred in the entire history of the nfl. With 2024 being the biggest year with 6 being taken.
Sorry, but you don’t let that sht go. If it’s my son I’m telling him to book that room in Pittsburgh.

I think the only way we get Simpson is if his camp starts receiving feedback that he’s not a high-likelihood 1st round pick. I obviously have no idea what his camp has heard other than what’s publicly reported, which so far suggests he has 1st round grades. If the public reports align with what he’s hearing privately, he’s not coming back.

Would you take $6.5m this year and the $18 to $29 next year?
And if he works himself to the first overall pick, is it still 18-29 mil, or more? If I knew I could get a bigger contract by playing one more year in college, AND get 6.5 mil, I'd take it.

I'd absolutely take that chance. But not everyone has that much confidence in themselves.

Ty going pro he not coming back and if he did why choose us over his hometown team Tennessee they will match our pay they just as desperate

Yes Cam Ward received about $50 million guaranteed as the #1 pick. But again, the average risk-taker chooses a likely guaranteed $18-$30M over $6M with a chance at a guaranteed $50M. Think about what you would do.

This isn’t a situation where he is moving up 2-3 rounds. Yes it’s more money but going from low first round to high 1st round is a huge gamble.
Besides injuries, other qb’s can rise. Chambliss is gonna get that year, trust me. And if you had to pick right now would you take simps or Trinidad?

He can’t risk it imo. We don’t even know if Dawson is staying.

Yes.

+ About $5.5M in 2026
+ An insurance policy to protect against injury
+ A shot at a top 5 pick next year.

He doesn’t have enough starts to make an impact at the NFL level.
I understand why he would consider it, just wondering if we know he actually is.
