Ty Simpson (has declared for the draft)

So if you're a GM, and your team has dog water for qbs and you see a guy that your team thinks could be good in the late rounds... you don't take a shot? A late rd qb that hits is bad value? I think you made some assumptions there. Go Canes indeed.
My response was not to you. I replied to the wrong guy. My apologies.

With signing bonus, a first round pick is making much more than $6.5m. Nearly every mock has Simpson in the first round. Obviously doesn’t mean it’s a lock, but this is much different than what Ward and Beck were looking at.

Can Mario really beat the NFL draft 3 years in a row? have to think every agent representing a good QB knows Miami has a big budget for a QB right now, and is desperate. I have to think some are reaching out to gauge interest.

One side of my family is from the Deep South and they all loathe Miami. All the cousins went to Bama and Auburn. Maybe that’s changed in recent years since we’ve been irrelevant, but most traditional SEC fans I know grew up hating Miami.
I'm from South Ga and the hate for Miami needs to be studied in SEC territory it's not dislike it's outright hate

He also got a $9 million signing bonus so he took home $13.5 million in his first year.
The signing bonus is a constant. It will be there next year too. Unless he owes a bookie $10 million, staying is financially better long term.

I already shared this link but he is a consensus 1st-round pick here.

Trying to stay positive and trust Mario but I’m nervous as ****

That's not how it works... Here is his payout on his 16.9 mill contract over the life of the 4 year contract.

He will avg a little about 4.25 for the next 4 years. The signing isn't really a bonus as much as it is an up front.

Also no state taxes in Miami. So add at least 6% more (375K).

I will say that there is a good point about why would his side leak anything about the offers he’s still getting if he truly is committed to the draft?

That makes no sense. That is something you do to put feelers out like hey who’s trying to offer that? It’s saying hey we still have our ears open…

His decision may legit come down to Dante Moore declaring. That probably really increases the odds he ends up a 1st rounder. However I do NOT think he actually would be a 1st rounder.

Ultimately I think if he actually makes the best decision he will be a Hurricane next year. But we will see

I remember Kaaya at #1

Seems like if Simpson is top three rounds, he should stay in the draft. Outside of that, he should come to Miami or Tennessee.

I guess he will get the feedback from the NFL soon and then decide. Are they usually accurate with their draft projections?

He’s one of those brainwashed sec players clear as day

This is what I was talking about. They don’t view getting paid and coming to Miami as moving up.
These kids grew up believing this crahp. It’s almost as if coming to Miami is loser talk and beneath them. That’s what has to be overcome. They won’t look at this rationally but emotionally.
It’s the football version of being bougie.
Remember uga hated Carson but Simpson is one of the few bright sports on bama. He’s gonna get dragged by that fanbase if he comes here after saying he’s going to the nfl.

True......but a late 1st round pick is getting 15-20 mil guaranteed. Compared to a top10 getting double that. And for Simpson, I doubt he gets a big 2nd contract in the NFL.
