Two very telling moments from last night

I thought a sneakily telling moment was when Rosier was out there scrambling around and had his shoulder pad come out of his jersey. TV camera pans in and, at least usually, you see a teammate or two try to help the dude. Our gameday crew joked the players were like "f it, keep it outside, it might help things."

Jokes aside, my most telling indicator last night was we had real opportunities to bring in Weldon or Williams or both to at least get some live looks. Doesn't seem it was even a consideration. That's pretty worrisome.

Richt's stubbornness is going to get the best of him again.

To be fair on the second possession of the game Rosier hit a slant route for 8 yards. That's a huge breakthrough for both Richt and Rosier. We keep this up and by 2067 we'll be dinking and dunking all game.

Telling moments.... we're before the off season.

Reason why the fans weren't allowed to see practices or scrimmages.

They know the fan base sees through all the bull****.

That shoulder pad **** blew my mind, I dont care how bad he sucks. You fix the guys jersey, the olineman were looking at him and didnt even attempt, happened again a second time and the ref had to do it for him. SMH.

What scares me is UM is soo low level now that any coach can come in and we dont have an AD strong enough not to allow nepotism, they never could get Golden to get rid of dorito, and now we have this guy son with no credentials coaching the most important position. He has to identify, recruit, and develop these guys and in year 3 we still rocking with Rosier.

Also Richt has a track record of not firing corches and being forced to by real AD to make changes, we dont have that at miami, where Richt not only needs to fire his QB corch but also the guy calling the plays. Our offense is weak, simple for defense to defend and must be very hard for qb to pick up. I hate offenses that are harder on our own players than the opposition. In college, I understand simple works, but it should have smoke n mirrors to make it difficult for defense, ours is opposite.

I remember it being odd when I saw this play out live. I also remember a play where Rosier got absolutely smoked for a sack and the linemen just looked back and then to the sideline for the next play. Not one went to help him up. Could be mountain/molehill stuff, but I can’t say I didn’t notice it, either.

Last night was NOT the place to bring in a freshman QB, especially not at the end of the game when the entire team was beaten. We have 3 cupcakes in a row. Many of us having been saying it here all summer. Rosier gets the LSU game then the QB competition opens up.

Yeah, but I think the concern we all have is that it's not gonna happen. We're all scared to death that Rosier is gonna continue to be QB1 the rest of the way. And that just can't be allowed to happen.

In all fairness we still had a chance to make it intersting with 8 minutes left when we **** the bed.

After that is when we should have seen one of the other qbs

Yeah nothing about last night showed Richt had any idea of how to prepare his team for a big game. You’d think after being at UGA he would have at least put on a better display of football knowledge and leadership. He’s about to lose this team, and maybe some **** good players to transfer, if he doesn’t get his head out of his a**, fire his pathetic attempt at a QB Coach, figure out an offense that’s geared towards the QB’s he has besides Rosier, and revamp his playbook to take advantage of all the **** speed he’s got at every offensive position that either runs or catches the ball. Where were jet sweeps, bubble screens, slant routes, etc? I don’t know football to the level of some of you all here but even I know you at least put a man in motion. Freaking Esminger was doing it last night and he hasn’t coached as a OC in 20 freaking years!

Yeah, it worked out that way for sure. I guess I'm of the mindset of playing for the broader season and, realistically, we're going to need a lot of bounces to win meaningful games consistently with Rosier. We're going to therefore need as many looks as possible to make a decent decision on any alternative. So, when we were down 30, I'd have tossed in the other guys. I mean, what got us back in the game were some 50/50 balls anyway. Gotta imagine the other guys can make those throws, too. But, I get ya.

I said something similar about our passing routes during the game last night. Everything is a deep ball. Even with an accurate QB that is a low percentage play. Quick slants across the middle were there all night but we kept going back to the deep ball. It’s like Mark Whipple is still running the offense.

Yeah, there were several times like this, guys not helping him up, fixing his pads, etc. None of these things seem to support the off season reports that Rosier has taken a more vocal leadership role, is trusted by the offense, has command of the huddle, etc. These things all look like symptoms of a major problem in the locker room and a lack of unity. Yeah, it's clear that Rosier isn't good enough, but I think it also says a lot about the character of the other guys (perhaps except for Thomas) who don't seem to be showing any effort to do their own job, try to make it work, support the whole instead of the individual parts, etc....you know, all those things that make a good team.

The middle slant game is always going to be an issue for Rosier, partly because he has so many balls batted down. Whether that's more due to poor recognition (i.e., throwing hot to the opposite side of a corner blitz) or lack of height (can't throw it over the LOS quagmire)...I'm not sure it matters either way. He's a tough kid, but he's not good enough, tall enough, or quick enough with his decision-making to get the team where it needs to go. I don't think that justifies his teammates hanging him out to dry though, and I hope the coaches get that **** figured out quick.

Gotta let it play out. This is the exact scenario we discussed all offseason. Playing a freshman QB against LSU in that game would have been a bad move. Rosier gets the LSU and then we re-evaluate from here. Let's see what happens for Toledo and FIU. I don't put much stock in Savannah State. All 3 QBs will look good against Savannah State. They're too much of a cupcake. UM should not be playing them IMO.
