Two-Sport Athlete Jasen Lopez Recaps Visit To Miami

Miami just wrapped up a pivotal weekend on the recruiting trail, marking the third official visit weekend in June for the Hurricanes. Among the visitors was two-sport standout Jasen Lopez, a wide receiver and point guard from Chaminade-Madonna Prep, who spent time with both the football and basketball staffs. He recapped his visit with CanesInSight.

“The visit was good,” Lopez said. “I had a lot of fun spending time with the coaches and getting into the meeting rooms to talk more in-depth about how they can use me.”

Lopez noted that the basketball offer he received from Miami last week played a major role in his interest, particularly cause he said he wants to play both sports at the next level.

“The basketball offer was big — it shows the interest on the basketball side of things as well,” he added.

On the football field, Lopez’s talent speaks for itself. He finished last season with 87 receptions for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is currently rated as a four-star wide receiver, ranked No. 254 overall, No. 43 at his position, and No. 40 in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports 2026 Composite.

Lopez is also a highly regarded basketball prospect, rated a three-star recruit. He checks in at No. 128 nationally, No. 17 among point guards, and No. 19 in Florida for the 2026 cycle.

The 6-foot, 183-pound guard has also been a dominant force for Chaminade-Madonna Prep, averaging 25 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.1 steals, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 45% from the field and 34% from beyond the arc.
We sure can recruit the smaller wr , Beard sure has that down for sure . Wouid be solid pick for sure we just need some bigger twegers this class to go with the smaller ones

Lopez, Hough Evans kid and Spafford would be fairly underwhelming imo.

@DMoney any insight for #of pass catchers for the 2026 class and any info you can share on Brayden Robinson?

I think underwhelming is a strong word

Is it an A+ class like if we had Russell or Keys…no? But a top 8 WR, the top slot on our board since his sophomore season, and Evans (An SEC commit and On3 top 300 kid) is underwhelming?

I get it, I want one of the Keys, Jeremiah Smith types too…But I can't see that class as underwhelming

I think the X comparisons go deeper than both guys being Hispanic.

Lopez is thickly-built. Maybe he won’t play at 200+ like X, but he will be 195 pretty easily. I’ve been around all three in person. Lopez more similar to X than Spafford.

They are pretty similar on film, too. Both guys play strong, have a great feel for space, and separate with short-area quicks. Lopez is faster and has more catch radius. X is probably a little stronger.

What is Lopez waiting for? Is FSU or someone else offering more?

I understand, and they’re both broward county Latin kids that have been outplaying inner city studs at the highest level of Highschool ball their entire lives. You need a different kind of makeup to succeed like they have while earning their peers respect. And I love having kids that elevated the level of grind in a locker room
Jroc is inner city. Hes a dade kid.

X is the kid that played at PPO then up in North Broward at Monarch and Deerfield.

But they both are similar in they had respeoct n clout from before they made it to high school.

But jroc is more Pitbull than AC slater.

Especially considering that we haven’t had the best luck keeping Cali/West Coast kids after a year or two…..if we take Lopez AND Spafford, we need to take 4 WRs.

Hoping that we get the kid from Red Oaks TX - B. Robinson I think is his name, he just finished a visit with Notre Dame, but it’s essentially Canes vs Domers battle from what I’ve read.

I think Spafford, Lopez, Evans is good if we add a top top guy to it - Keys/Feaster/Russell... Or maybe even a 27 kid moving up like Lennear...

I was gonna say, I think that's a good WR class. Spafford is that immediate impact WR prospect, and you have a 6'5" guy on the outside and a very good slot WR.

Now I think it's going to be important to also add a top transfer WR, but that's a solid B+ HS WR group

big time production in hs ... that matters vs chasing traits

FSU quietly going putting together a nice run.

Let's hope some of the Dade and Broward (although it seems like besides Lopez may have passed on the others) flavor they are pulling in doesn't sway Cooper.

What the **** happened to our Chaminade pipeline the last couple of years.
Those boys are so much better than the stupid Columbus mafia BS.
Well so far our Chaminade kids have been a flop. Simpson hopefully changes that. Fitzgerald is already making plays so there is that. I get the records and with extra schollirs I would take this kid as keep away from FSU but he plays the same position as our best offensive player so he would not play here for two years.

I don’t think he is bad by any means, but I would take every one of our WR commits over him.

Kid could very well become our best receiver. Never know. X back in the day no one knew what position he’d play just that he was a dawg.

As for chaminade vs Columbus we will see how Lopez and cooper turn out. They also got Jeremiah Bailey and jojo. 2/3 so far there. Kenyatta Jackson plays a lot for taint. Columbus we got Fitzgerald who looks like he will be a dude. Capers had a pick against us lol. Mendoza may win the heisman. Chaminade out front currently
