TWENTY ONE Blue-Chips

Class looks pretty good. I think staff has earned the benefit of the doubt on evals considering the early returns from last year's HS and portal class. And we weren't happy campers last year here in ESD.

Gotta sign more 5 stars going forward though

Very fair point to make. One which I have faith will start happening sooner than later.

It's a deep class and that's good. What it's missing though is the top end difference makers. Maybe they're there, IDK. Who is the next Toney, Bain, or Maguinoa from this group?

Good question, but that's part of the fun. This time last year, nobody would've said Toney would be this year's Toney. If you go to the 247 website and click on our 2025 class, Toney is slotted between Luka Gilbert and Ezekiel Marcelin. Let's see who emerges in spring and fall.

5 stars and difference makers aren't created equal
Bain and toney weren't 5 stars

We once had a coach who couldn't recruit that logged onto rivals and said I'll offer a 5 stat qb
We got him name kirby freeman

Very true. One of the last things we need to worry about Mario is that he and his staff are star whores who don't do their homework. If they chase a whale, that kid is very likely one. Now it's time to start landing a couple more per class.

Btw, that 5* bust will always have Tally.

I don't want this to get lost in the sauce of the playoff debate, but this was a **** of a day for the Canes.

We just signed TWENTY blue-chip players.

Only 4 teams in America brought in more blue-chippers than the Canes.

ND (23)
A&M (23)
UGA (23)
USC (22)
Miami (20)

Miami signed more blue-chips in this class (20) than Florida signed total players (18).

With the size of the class, the weight of how much each one plays into the total composite score gets murky, so this is the #10 overall class, but we're injecting 20 blue-chip kids into the mix, which is obviously amazing.

We signed 16 in 2025
We signed 14 in 2024
We signed 16 in 2023
We signed 10 in 2022

Hats off to the staff for the hard work. Let's hope the evals are good, we develop these kids and this winds up being the nucleus of a championship roster.
it may not be the #1-5 class we were hoping for but it's an ELITE class. It has impact guys at nearly all positions and as you mention, it will further cement us as the most talented (on paper) team in the ACC. It's Mario's time NOW, to finally win us a ACC Title and make a deep playoff run! No more excuses.

Best part is we can pencil top 5 today & class is so deep that others are likely to emerge. Mario & Co. have significantly upgraded quality & roster depth.

I think Waters will immediately compete for Nickel job.

Not positive, but I think he's a clear outside corner…. IMO Portis is the most likely to be the nickle with an outside chance at safety. But I'm sure they all will be tried at different spots. Of the three different type positions the only ones I'd rule out are Redding not being a corner, Waters and Wyman not being a safety, everything else is in play imo.

Cantwell is 100% a starting OT next season

Don't think this is a lock…Obviously chances skyrocket if Bell leaves. He will be in the battle.

One of these WRs will 100% be a big rotational snap count piece.

At least 1

I’m hoping Wiley and one of these LBs steps up right away.

Almost have to…Can't wait to see Wiley. Ultimately portal will have a say with or without Wiley and the new frosh.

I think we need to have a major open competition at Nickel. We have so much Cb talent, if one of these guys wants SIGNIFICANT SNAPS they will throw their hat in the ring. They should all be looking at what Scott did and say **** that looks great. And there is no reason they can’t win the nickel job then move outside in the future.

I love Portis and think he can be the Nickel in 27'. Think we need to add one in the portal, or Fitz may play there again next year.
CB's will be in tough to contribute this year as we have potentially a lot of returning talent there. Dunnigan is the most physically ready to compete early IMO.

Cantwell will play, but Congdon and Ervin are future studs on the line.

Stancil has a chance, the others i see as more developmental players. Charles and LaFayette are really good rushers, but not sure if they can pass Lightfoot, Pickett and Scroggins next year.

One of the receivers and Mueller have a chance. Hopefully Gilbert and Schott take a big step up this off season.4

Busch seems like he has the frame to possibly compete in the top 4 backers next year. Still think we need to get one in the portal for sure.

Ya I'm just going by the way they look on the field, skill sets. Like for instance, K.Scott was mediocre when Auburn asked him to play outside (some of that was reportedly injury)

I agree, I also think that one of our current kids may still get the chance or responsibility as well… But wouldn't shock me if it was poyser/portal/fitz. Of our big 4 I like Lucas there the most, but he really got better as a true corner as the year progressed.

I like the depth of the class. Seems like we got a ton of guys who can contribute at some point. It’d be nice to have 4 or 5 5 stars but this is the best way to build real and playable depth. Keep stacking these and just nail the portal like we have. Should be good for a long time.

I'm not sure of quickest impact just yet

Alot depends on what Bell does, and what we lose/gain from the portal.

I think maybe Nagle if it's true he's up in that 285/290 range already can give snaps, Cantwell is a possibility, Wingo is a possibility for sure, Mallory
