Say what y'all want about the offense...but the **** we run on Saturdays resembles what he'll be running on Sundays. And he didn't look good. He needs another year to show that he can play in an offense that isn't just 4/5 wide receivers running vertical routes.

This is where I respectfully disagree. Plenty of QB’s in the league played with 4-5 WR’s in College.

This, Gattis did nothing to scheme guys open on a consistent basis. Say what you want about Lashlee and his inside zone he had some great play-action off it and got chunk plays **** near every game.

That's not true.
If you watch film breakdowns of our offense you'll see plenty of plays where guys were schemed open and our QB's simply missed them.

Lashlee did absolutely nothing to scheme guys open. Watch TVD's highlights from last year and all you see is contested catches.
You must've forgot what his offense looked like when he first got hired.

tru -- he looked way worse with gattis.. but even without gattis, need a dual threat and a vocal leader -----mayb a good oline can make it good enough, well. see

I agree that comment was stupid , I was just looking for a more current eval, it's not like he is going to change his mechanics during the season. Most of the pre draft evals I've read say the same things about TVD, eyes and lower body mechanics.

I am a fan of TVD, once healed, I hope gets with a real qb trainer this off season and works on some shortcomings. He has what the NFL likes, size, good arm strength, and decent mobility. Unfortunately, multiple OC's and poor qb coaching have hindered his development.

TVD def needs to be a better leader.

He needs to get off that Buddy system ish and make sure he is tapped in with all his WRs and RBs and OL. Not just X.

He also can be quicker to take off and ran. He has enough speed to pick up yardage

Man, you’re almost making me want to give Gattis another shot. Was it solely lack of talent this year that made it go so wrong? Sounds like Gattis is a jerk as well so maybe that was part of it.

TVD is still declaring and going high in the draft had Lashlee stayed. This narrative is overrated.
 
I tend to think that @Coach Macho could be 100% correct about the type of offense Gattis is running.

But I’m sure he agrees also that running a certain offense doesn’t necessarily make you a good or bad coordinator, especially when it comes to game day issues.

It could be said that one of Gattis’ biggest issues is the actual playcalling, and his actual ability to adapt to a defense he’s facing. You could run the most innovative and effective offense in the world, if you’re not calling the right plays under the right circumstances you’re going to get nailed.

You’re not wrong, especially the last paragraph, but I’m still having a hard time getting over Mario knowing how things went down at Michigan last year and still hiring him. I know Gattis was plan E or F but it still feels like questionable decision making by MC.

In retrospect it was the wrong decision. At the time I think the only thing you could say was, is this guy really calling the plays (or was Harbaugh) even though he has a title of OC? The other criticism was the type of offense that he ran at Michigan and was used to running, would it adapt to our talent? That’s a completely different topic though.
