TVD’s Father

It was widely known that TVD was hurt for a good part of the season. That still doesn't excuse how many times he made dreadful decisions despite not being under any pressure whatsoever. Say what you want about that OL, but they protected the **** out of that dude all year, and he still was throwing up prayers. It was beyond obvious that he had absolutely no idea who anyone in the WR room was besides X. It was also obvious that dude was a guy that once he got his money got lazy, he started looking sloppy as **** physically. It was a terrible season, and honestly, Miami may have been better off letting TVD leave, because a lot of his stuff would have been exposed faster there. Turnover prone QBs get coaches fired.

TVD's father is going to stick up for his son, but it's not an accident that the same offense(With a ton of returning talent), with a real QB looked like world beaters. He was the person holding the unit back, injured or not. I hope he is learning a ton from King and Lash, because his future is in coaching, it isn't on the field.

I still remember this as being a failure of Mario's leadership. TVD had no business playing with that injury but Mario refused to let Emory play QB until TVD was so far gone that he couldnt even suit up.
Mario refused to name Emory the starter for the Clemson game until mid-week. Emory got very few reps with the ones for that game, yet came away with the overtime win. Then Mario started TVD the next week against a horrible (2-7) UVA team. I was here begging for Mario to give Emory the start against UVA. Instead TVD stunk up the joint and we barely came away with the win in OT.

Mario kept using TVD until he couldnt go anymore prior to FSU. Even in the FSU game Emory was not named the starter until mid week. Mario should have given the remainder of that season to Emory. TVD was spent. Mario failed on that one.

That’s fair from the outside looking in. But we have no idea how Emory was playing in practice. A gimpy pick prone TVD may have provided the higher win chance vs Emory.

Its my opinion that Mario failed on this issue. TVD was worthless in 2023. Had Emory gotten the start against UVA, things may have gone differently for the entire season.

It was vintage Mario. Talk tough but clutch your pearls when it comes to making decisions that require critical thinking and risk.

Maybe it's the angle, but fella looks 40.

Makes you wonder what he would be if he stayed with Lashlee for 2+ years!

INB4: Kid takes the D'eriq King route and becomes a highly paid CFB OC within 7 years.

That UVA game was the one where I am in the stands watching like we really in a dawg fight with 2-6 UVA (one of the wins was william and mary) and we had Brashard standing on sideline while we struggled.. Like there is no way we can get him ball after he had explosive against Clemson..

Tough spot for a dad, I get it.

But what a douchey, highbrow term in libelous.

No offense to those who thrive as I’m blessed beyond what I deserve. But ultra sensitive implications with a hint or more of legal speak shows what a ***** he is.
Agreed.
Could have just used defamation like the rest of the world.

You're a hedge fun manager, not a lawyer, and they even used the would defamation.

This was widely reported. On this website. Even the announcers talked about it during games.

The skin completely separated from the fascia or muscle or whatever.

AND had fractured or ****ed up fingers on his throwing hand.

AND had fractured or ****ed up ribs.

Mario still had him out there.

People wonder why he went from ACC rookie of the year with Lashlee, to tentative and poor decision making throwing INTs with Dawson as coach.

Definitely not a trend here seeing standout QBs regress under Dawson...
Right? Just look how great TVD has done since he left.

I get it - I have kids - but he’s asking for aggravation reading and commenting on a rabid fan message board. I’m fairly certain I reached out to him at some point and recommended that he stay off of here. Not because I’m mean but because he’s going to be subjected to the criticism his kid gets, he couldn’t handle it and I wasn’t stopping it for his sake. That’s not how this works. And by the way, I couldn’t handle it either, but I wouldn’t subject myself to this. Now some people just say mean **** that’s unnecessary because they’re ******** and if it’s beyond what’s normal here we might - might - cut that off - but that’s rare that we would do that.
Well said. I agree with everything you’re saying here and think the same would apply to social media. Especially when these kids are getting paid to play, criticism of their play, leadership, and commitment are fair game. But certainly I would hope accusing the kid of throwing games for gambling purposes is in the category of things that would be cut off. Maybe the dude was trying to be funny, but publicly anccusing TVD of illegal activity that goes to the integrity of the game is out of bounds IMHO.

Ive mentioned it a few of the Brashard theads. That was another of Mario's MAJOR failures. He chased that kid outa here only to see him thrive at SMU and is now getting quality reps in the NFL.

There are very few round holes that Mario will not consistently try to beat square pegs into.
