Could. UCFs McKenzie Milton and now Dillon Gabriel are from Hawaii.

The thing about Hawaii is the parents encourage their kids to get away from home and go to school on the mainland (doubly true since Hawaii's only football team is in the MW).

If Miami coaches make contact early enough and get the kids to committ they pretty much stay committed. No flipping around, their word is true.

Theres a difference between being from Hawaii and being Polynesian

Exactly.

Most people don’t even realize that there are very few actual Polynesians and/or more importantly true Hawaiians left in Hawaii. I’m sure you’ve heard of an island called Niʻihau in the archipelago.

Not when it comes to staying true to your committment. The HS kids in HI, be they Samoan, Hawaiian, Caucasian, African American or what have you they stay committed once they give their word.

Thats not what I mean; I’m saying just b/c u’re Hawaiian don’t mean you’re Polynesian, and if we don’t have any Polynesian familiarity either on staff or in the community, we’re not getting any Polynesian players, period. They r extremely family oriented, and I would know since that’s who I grew up w/ and I dated one.

Exactly bro. My man gave two “Hawaiian” players as examples that went to UCF and neither are Polynesian. Lol.

And regarding Ni’ihau, I have my friend.

Usually people that grew up out west are a lot more familiar with that, just like they’re more familiar with LDS, and a bunch of other stuff that you just don’t see too much of on the East Coast
