Gus Malzahn was a HS coach in 2005. Hugh Freeze was one in 2004. These coaches come from somewhere, they're not born college HCs. Almost anything is better than Al Golden, I would take a chance with someone else over Al in 2015.

I dont think you understand. They werent born in college, but got a start somewhere. They werent a HS HC then a college HC with only a tiny bit of college experience under them and yes it can be worse. Like how ppl never thought Shannon years would be worse. And once again you need to read carefully. Never said Golden being a failure is theory and never mentioned that Im afraid of change or afraid of giving someone else a chance. Dont put words in my mouth. I said a one year deal is garbage and ice or coley could be worse. If you're gonna fire Golden and get a coach then do it. Dont ***** around with a one year deal.

You're wrong because it doesn't get worse than 6 wins. Once you reach a certain level of failure (I.e., 6 wins), it doesn't matter if you lose more than that. 6 wins should be the same as 0 wins to UM fans.

UM is guaranteed at least 4 wins even without a HC given our talent versus the **** schedule we face. There is zero downside to firing Folden and letting Coley be HC for a 2015.

They beat two ranked teams and literally could have been 13-1 had one possession gone differently in their losses. You think he would have been fired had they gone 13-1 or even lets say 10-3?

And here's the reality, even if they somehow fired Golden now and promoted someone like Coley, you know what would change? We'd probably have a new special teams coach and the rest of the status quo. Would it greatly change the season? Nah.

The 2011 OSU team went 6-7, so that entire first paragraph is laughable, borderline delusional. 6-7 teams aren't 1 or 2 posessions away from 13-1.

Your second paragraph is the crux of my argument. Nobody knows how things would change under a new head coach, and if the changes are negligible and the team sucks anyway, o well. The teams going to suck with an absolute certainty next year under Golden. Lifes giving us lemons and theyre squeezing the juice up our ****holes.

They went 6-7 and had 6 losses by 7 points or less. Pretty sure that's one possession a game where they could have won games. It's not like they were getting run over.

Actually they went 4-7. You cannot count those wins against a FCS school and a FBS lower tier school. They lost 3 games against 500 and sub 500 teams and were favored in all of those games....so yeah, we were getting ran over.

the biggest problem in resolving the golden problem is the lack of a master plan for the position and the program. i believe a trustee said that. i agree. there has been a tremendous lack of planning and vision. this is generally the current AD's fault and Eichort's faults.

This has been the problem for going on what seems like 15 years now. They got lucky with Butch, he was a legacy hire with a tremendous pedigree thanks to JJ. After that, it's been one continuous disaster after another. Let's not forget the Perry Clark and Frank Haith fiascos, either. Larranaga is another extremely fortunate hire, because he WANTED the job to live/retire near home.

Basically, these AD guys and gals couldn't add up to 3 if you spotted them the 1 and the 2.
