Trustee: Golden buyout substantially lower after next season

Do you want a lame duck President in Shalala and probably a lame duck AD in James running a coaching search?

Do you want Al Golden coaching in 2015?

If you're smart, you find an instant upgrade who will take the job on a one year "try-out".

Again, you're still putting the search for your hypothetical "instant upgrade" in the hands for Shalala/James. The scenario doesn't change.

Answer my question, please.

Like I said "If you're smart, you find an instant upgrade who will take the job on a one year "try-out".

This isn't a difficult decision or task. There is a name out there ready to go. We're not asking them to go an insane search like Indian Jones and find some rare name.

There isn't a realistic name out there. You'd have to hire someone who would have to put together almost an entire new coaching staff with a month before spring practice starts, keeping in mind that they might be one and done with a new president and likely a new AD unless they have some dramatic winning season. It'll also harm whats left of this class as well.

You have yet to answer my question.

I would take Butch Davis and any squad he wants to assemble over Al Golden. Why isn't Butch realistic? Is he super expensive? Unavailable?

The 2015 season is already dead with Al Golden, you wouldn't take a chance with Butch Davis?

Do you ever answer my questions?

To be honest we're in a no win situation. Dfreshhookup is right.

Butch Davis? You don't think he would take the gig on a one year basis?

The idea of Shalala hiring Butch Davis is more insane than the idea of her firing Golden on her way out. You couldn't create a more unrealistic scenario.

Why?

Then why does she care? She is on the way out. If she doesn't care (which she clearly doesn't based on her track record) then why would she care if Butch came back?

Why haven't you answered my question above either?

She's going to hire a guy who bailed on the University right as she came into power and a guy who's name has been tied to a massive academic scandal and was fired in disgrace at his last gig for the sake of the football program?

Sounds exactly like Shalala.

He took a PRO gig, get over it. He moved on to the big leagues. People take pro gigs, it happens. They want more (money and prestige) and it isn't like he went to FSU or some other gig in college.

DS doesn't care at all, she barely knew him too. He left after 2000, she came in 2001.

Butch is clean per the NCAA. So...what is your point? Do you prefer Al coaching in 2015?

Is the new president going to be in place before the season starts? If so, what's to stop them from at least firing James?

Yes. The only thing stoping the president is apathy.

Well ****, I'd call that a partial win if he got canned. All I've heard is how inept the administration is, I'm surprised there isn't more optimism about a new president and starting fresh from that perspective.

It isn't Blake that is the real problem, it is the system of micromanagement that kills us.

With that said, Blake is a retarded puppet who needs to be far away fron Miami.

Talk about bailing, everyone here freely admits that The Troll has already bailed on her job.

Actually, it would have been better if she had bailed before she took money from Shapiro, or gave Alice Frolden an extension, or before her drowning the university in health care debt, or before handing my son his diploma (should burn that picture).

I told you the minute Shalala was hired that her primary agenda was to destroy Miami football.

Bomb disagrees.

A big-time college football progrum is not the place to be penny-pinching faqqots.

Congrats on saving a few million, you just destroyed our 2016 season.

Make ice or coley (or anyone really) an interim HC.

There's literally nothing to lose. Go 0-12, whatever, 2015 is a wash anyway.

Maybe there's a diamond in the rough. 99.9% chance there's not, but that's still .1% better than the chances with golden.

My dad's best friend is a marketing director at a company that donates lots of money to the athletic dept and he told me the same thing a few days after the Pitt game. Said that its about the only reason he wasnt fired.

I was skeptical at believing him at first but so far everything he told me that day has come out the last 3-4 weeks from someone else. He must actually have a closer insight than I thought

James should be executed. Seriously. Crimes against humanity. Hitler and Stalin have NOTHING on Golden, Shalala and James

What do you really expect the guy to do? He's obviously powerless to alter the situation.

Not sure I'd assume that he would change anything even if he did have the power to.

He's done nothing but reinforce this Bunker Mentality that the good Saint Al is under siege by the savage Miami fanbase. Any assumption he'd change anything if he could, based on that, is a flawed one.

That quote doesn't really do much for me.

I have nightmares of us backing into a lucky 8 win season that consists of 4 or 5 close wins against teams a normal Miami team would destroy...and then having this inept, incompetent fools that run our program looking back at the aforementioned season and uttering the following phrase...

"Improvement"

Golden used a ****** schedule 2 seasons ago to get off to a 7-0 start...if that piece of **** wins 8 games this year they'll give him a lifetime extension and Miami football will be dead and buried.

Moral of the story...the firing needed to happen THIS offseason. You're leaving things up to chance by him not being fired right now. These idiots will find any excuse to keep him even past next season.

Problem is one year contracts don't happen. We'd sign a new coach to a four year contract and then have to pay his buyout when the new president comes too

Are you reading or not?

There is a coach (we know one) who is dying for the gig and I'd bet he take it on a one year basis just to get in the door.
