Highlights Trust The Process......Again

Only two ways this will go...either the path of the last 15 yrs or so...or the path of JJ/Butch etc.

Year 1 is a free year, I've come to realize. Undisciplined kids used to doing what they want will ultimately quit on a coach that's pushing them too hard and demanding their maximum buy-in and effort....so even if we regress or tie last year's W/L, I'm not concerned. Year 2 is where I expect the 9-3 season and Year 3 is where Mario should have us annually competing for ACC titles (if we're still in the ACC by then).
You must be 40 or under. You’re far to patient.

No excuses for the loss last week, one of the more embarrassing losses I can remember but I trying to take it all in stride. We knew Mario had warts we just saw one pop up earlier than we thought. I was never 100% sold Mario was going to take us to the promised land but I was sold he was going to make us a respectable program again because he can recruit and knows what a top tier program looks like.

In 2-3 years, we will be absolutely loaded and we will win. The concern will continue to be bad preparation and game day coaching. Some of the preparation will naturally get fixed with better talent and culture but we will be always dumbfounded with inexplicable losses. This one was just really bad and early.
My only problem with this is idk how he’s gonna be able to stack talent losing to the MTSUs of the world with the huge difference in talent he already has. Who wants to come play here after seeing that, short of a *massive* turn around.

Even the best recruiters have to win the gimme games to actually close top end guys.

On one hand it’s not fair to hold the last 15+ years against Mario and his staff

He had nothing to do with it

But he’s paid like an elite head coach even though he’s never been one and he just got dragged by a G5 school

If I hear the word “patience” again I’m going to throw up
Even slip n slide Manny had us pretty much in all the games last year so I totally agree. these guys are suppose to be much better coaches and this is not some super good young team sure we lost a couple of receivers but most of this team was Here last year and we supposedly have some good looking defense according to some that we didn't have last year and was our biggest problem under Manny.

I don’t think most are ready to jump ship on Mario. I and most are willing to give him the chance to correct the mistakes. Get rid of gattis. Hopefully Ponce too

I'm not running with the "ruining quarterbacks" narrative.

Herbert was still drafted #6 overall so I hate that narrative.

First off, Mario himself called TVD the best QB in the country. Now I know that was new coach hype. But everybody in America had very high expectations from TVD.

But Mario is absolutely not doing TVD any favors. If he could look like a star in a gimmicky offense, I don't care. Why not keep running that "gimmicky" offense until you get your guys and systems in place? Why this wholesale complex offensive system change without knowing what you're going to get when we all know TVD could thrive in a different system?

He blundered with TVD and this offense. At best he did not play to TVDs strengths and at worst he absolutely ruined a first round QB. Neither is very confidence inspiring and definitely doesn't promote "patience".

You throw TVD under the bus all you want but this TVD we're seeing this year is not the same one we saw last year.

Like most things, it's probably a bit of both. TVD may have been slightly overrated but Mario also is not giving him a friendly system for him to run to maximize his potential and our offense.
I wish we still had a “gimmicky” offense. That offense didn’t struggle to score against garbage G5 programs.

I see what you mean it’s kind of unclear from what I wrote lol

I meant it was easier for coaches at Miami to find diamonds in the rough because there were a bunch of unknown guys down here that other programs didn’t have the same opportunity to see easily on film but our coaches could go to a different game every Friday and probably watch a guy or more with real potential and talent that weren't on people’s radars.
It’s always been south Florida and everyone knew what was down here. It was MORE difficult twenty five/thirty years ago to find diamonds in the rough. Everything was more difficult from recruiting to evaluating talent. Access to film, information and evaluations were limited. Coaches didn’t have any more time then than they do now. They had less support staff and professionals to get what they needed. Today you can watch every gave of every kids and get what you need without leaving your living room. Back then, you had to work your *** off and know what you were doing without help. The state hasn’t gotten smaller, it’s become much easier to do the job. The NFL is filled with kids from every school and they aren’t highly rated guys from only big programs. There’s more diamonds in the rough going unseen today then ever. Opportunities for guys to find and see unrecognized talent is bountiful. Greatest and easiest time ever to build a roster. Ask yourself this simple question, how many south Florida kids have gone unrecruited by Miami since Butch left and found their way to lower profile programs that you wish we kept home? MORE than any of us would like to remember. We can all name twenty misses in the last four cycles. Twenty kids that you wish Miami had, instead of what we currently do. That’s INSANE! Try to name twenty from the 80’s. Do you really think Butch would have fought to keep Pope a five star that couldn’t catch? Before you lose site of my point on a Pope, Alabama was his second choice. He would have let Noodles bounce and grabbed a three or four star that could catch and wanted to be here. Remember Pope stayed for family. Much easier today if you know what you’re looking for.

This narrative is ridiculous. Really can't admit that maybe TVD was overhyped and the fact that Rambo and Harley are gone is exposing him? Really gonna run with that dumb Oregon narrative of "ruining quarterbacks" when Miami has receivers that can't get open against aTm's third-string secondary and TVD is staring down receivers? Not to mention all the stories coming out about him being in his own head, not having any dynamic with his revivers, etc. That hard for this fan base to admit they might've bought fool's gold from a kid who just aired it out a ton against average teams when the Canes were 2-4 on the season and had nothing to play for, or lose?
Plausible.

Exactly. Had he done the same on D, he'd still be here. Had Golden adapted and fixed the D, he'd have lasted longer. Had Richt let go of the O and hired someone like Lashlee, he'd still be here. Stubborn coaches don't last long here.
We’ve seen that movie, too many times to count. With all of the resources invested in Mario and Crew, you would think that they would give him a little more time than normal, at least. My question is… how much time is he going to be giving to get this thing right? I don’t mind being a “pro style” offense. But design your concepts around what your talent can do best. Is that too much to ask for? Your talent changes every year. Have a plan! Stop trying to bang square pegs into round holes.

Butch recruited fast players. Track guys. Iirc, Santana, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Darryl Jones all ran track. So did Buchanon.

The early 2000s Miami had some blazing fast guys. I could repeat myself all day, we need an influx of speed more than anything else.

Tired as **** on waiting. The canes are dead. No more patient anymore. It's a circus.
