I’m pretty sure they are criticizing their own OL. As in he’d be an upgrade over their current players with one arm.
Yeah, I mean fck fsu and all, but this guy was actually making fun of his own team. There's nothing funny about the situation, but it's a stretch to make this anything more than poor form. Which is just normal form for the noles.

He never said it was acceptable behavior. His point is that we have the 1st Amendment and nowadays some people are way too quick to say that speech they are uncomfortable with should be reported or banned.

Just because it's distasteful doesn't mean it's illegal to say it. And these social media "guidelines" are a joke because they can be completely subjective.

If anything, you are in the wrong for saying that the original tweet was racist. It had absolutely nothing to do with race...and it is truly irresponsible to throw the racist word around. It diminishes the true meaning and impact of the word.

Yes , people have the freedom to say stupid , ignorant ****. But in return people have the freedom to react to said , stupid, ignorant comments.

It’s more so the Nole admitting to how atrocious their OL is than it’s a dig on UM. It’s a compliment that our former player with one arm would still be better than anyone they have with two. Is it tasteless, absolutely. It’s not bulletin board material though. Let it go.

He can say whatever he wants in his home, in a public space, etc. However, this is twitter. There are guidelines you must follow. If the poster breaks them he can be reported or banned. This has nothing to do with the 1st amendment. Just like you can't scream fire in a movie theater or certain things on an airplane.

Personally I wouldn't report him. I don't give enough of a fvck. However, if someone disrespected Norton in front of me, I would throw them a beating and take the charge.

I agree you can respond any way you want to. But it then someone could say they want to report someone for reporting someone else. Or what of someone wanted to report someone for claiming that something is racist when it isn't because they feel it diminishes true racism.

I am merely pointing out, and opposing, the new knee-jerk reactions of the growing portion of yhe population who want to ban the free speech that they don't personally agree with. It's a dangerous slippery slope.

I think we are in basic agreement.

I agree that it's a horrible thing to say and that I would defend Norton as well.

But my argument about twitter "guidelines" stands. I could just as easily report anyone who claims someone is racist when the supposed racist said nothing about race. But I wouldn't because I think that these media guidelines are pathetic. Violations are in the eye of the reader and are more often than not adjudicated with extreme bias.

I for one don't think that social media...which is really just a public space that has IP owned by a company...should be allowed to dictate anything other than 1st ammendment protections.

Making a sick distasteful joke is not the same as saying fire in a theater. It does not but anyone in risk of injury or death. And when "hate speech" becomes anything you don't agree with or offends you...this is when the 1st ammendment starts to unravel. The knee jerk reactions have to stop.

This is HATE, RACIST & IRRESPONSIBLE speech! Should/can this individual be reported, so that action may be taken?
Just because someone says something you don't like or disagree with doesn't make it racist. Its hateful and irresponsible to misuse that word because you are racist yourself. So maybe your post should be censored also?

Actually, the "yelling fire in a crowded theater" example is a well-known example of a First Amendment EXCEPTION, as it is predicated on public safety. Commonly taught in law school.

We're not talking about a guy getting a DUI. Making

If the guy got arrested for DUI that's one thing. Make fun of something like this is indicative of someone who is just simply low class.

If being low class on the Internet was punishable, this entire board would be in cuffs.
