Troubling If True..Thought Al Embraced Our Past?

Hope its not true. My guess, alums that are friendly with the staff will be on the sidelines, those that criticized the coaches will not.

This^^^^^

Golden isn't the 1st and won't be the last to deny an alum to be @ the sideline. Don't go all ape**** over this. Did any really expect any different. This isn't shocking news

I am starting to hate this guy. Aww. Poor Phil. He doesn't want to sit in a box. He wants to be on the sidelines. Did he want to go to the other home games like the diehards or just FSU like the rest of the fair weather Miami fans?

I mean, after I graduated, the library wouldn't let me in. The wellness center said tough **** and they call me all the ******* time for donations.

Phil is a ******* complainer! Once you are out, you are out. Donate or deal with it. Yesterday's news.

BTW, Phil is still one of my favs

So what is the actual line you have to cross to not expect the red carpet to be rolled out for a former player in some of your eyes? Even if you think Golden blows, any grown man ain't going to kowtow to someone acting like an idiot publicly and personally insulting him. But yeah, we get it. Anyone that is critical of the staff, in ANY manner, is to be propped up around here as a hero. ****, give Jason Whitlock a sideline pass!

Last time I checked, it's not Folden's football program. It's not his sideline. It's UM's football program. And Phil Buchanon is more of a UM guy than Folden ever will be.

What if subject of OP was Warren Sapp?
That's hilarious. I think if it was Warren Sapp then about 80% of ppl that are mad would either not say a word or be on Golden's side. Lol funny how things are.

Am I the only one that is wondering why the visiting team is allowed former alums on the field at all?
I just think it's weird that any home team would just let them do that. Doesn't make much sense to me is all. Even if we are at FSU, I would assume they wouldn't let our alums on the field. But maybe that just makes too much sense.

People hear what they want to hear and use that to serve their agenda. I hated AG coaching as much as anyone here, but this is ridiculous.
Most of the posters who are here and attacking AG for this, have been around for long time and know that the SCHOOL has limited the number of alums on the sideline per NCAA rules. For the million's times, this has been controlled from above.

There will be a limited number of alums on the sidelines. When it was reported in the Herald that no ex-cane will be allowed on the sidelines, the school came out and said it was not true. It only "limited" the number of alums allowed because the NCAA has a rule about that. Now, AG may have a say who are those "limited" alums are. Who is going to blame him for giving a spot to Clint, Ed Reed, Edge James or Michael Irvin instead of P. Buchanan? Common people! PB wants to call AG names (he can do whatever he wants) and at the same time wants AG to welcome him to mingle with his players on the sidelines?

I had a suspicion that PB is not very smart but his confirmed it to me.

I'm sure I'm late to the party here, I havent read the 5 pages but wasn't one of the Shapiro punishments that we can't have boosters and alum on the sidelines? Or was it just boosters? If its the latter we ****** better have our all time greats on the sidelines to pump our players up.

IF, IF it is just Buchanon that isn't allowed on the sidelines then it appears he dug his own grave. I love Phil Buchanon 100% but just looking at this situation objectively, I'd almost guarantee the decision to keep him off the sidelines after his rants about Golden came from the AD. And while I don't disagree with his comments necessarily, I also understand why someone like the AD would want him off the sidelines.. objectively speaking. Subjectively speaking let Phil on the god **** sidelines yo!

time and time again this has come out to be a false. Just like when one past player came out and said they were not allowed on campus / facilities.. and Golden + Blake said this was completely false...

I understand hatred for Golden but spreading lies is bs.

if any of you end up at the seat during the game where you can see who is on the sidelines.. take a few snapshots and bump this thread so some of the retards here don't take every tweet as fact.
So Phillip is lying?

It's obviously not Golden, 1983-2005 was before even Randy got here. He is complaining about something that has been in place since 2006 and has nothing to do with Golden, but posters here think it's all Golden's fault.

That's a really dumb interpretation of the dates in his post, but all of Folden's call girls are dumb. So I'm not surprised.

Tallahassee alums will be on the sidelines, but UM alums can't be on the sidelines.

Phil can sit on the FSU sidelines for all I care.

You can drive off a cliff for all we care.

Of course your mental midget *** would be butt hurt that Buchanon spoke the truth about Golden. Go root for another team.

Lol , the irony of you telling people to root for another team.

PBuc and Golden did not start off on the right foot as he told his half brother to look else where and cut him from the 2011 recruiting class.

Golden Cuts Ties with CB Davis

Jeremy Davis will not be a Miami Hurricane and is now considering UNC, USF and Vandy

January 12, 2011 4:27 pm

Jeremy Davis, the younger brother of former Hurricane All-American Phillip Buchanon, says he will not be at Miami.

And not because he doesn’t want to. But because new head coach Al Golden doesn’t want him.

Golden talked with Davis Tuesday night, which left Davis, who had been firmly committed to the Hurricanes since May 2009, disappointed.

“He lied to me,” Davis said. “I don’t know what’s up with the coach. He was trying to be extra tough on the phone for no reason. He kind of had an attitude with me and my parents. That didn’t go well. My mom is mad, my dad is mad. We have always been all about Miami our whole lives. It seems like he wants nothing to do with Randy Shannon’s players. He wants to bring in who he wants to bring in. He said it’s in my best interest not to go there and basically it wouldn’t matter how good I was that I wouldn’t get to play. That kind of hurts, but you move on with life and you hope the next decision is a good decision.”

Davis, a 6-foot cornerback with blazing speed, starred at Cape Coral his senior year after transferring from Fort Myers. He did not get cleared academically and ended up at Milford (N.Y.) Academy this past season.

He says he’s been cleared academically and will enroll early this semester. He’s currently considering three schools—USF, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. He has ties to all three with former UM defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff coaching at Vanderbilt; former UM coach Butch Davis, who coached Buchanan, at North Carolina, and a former assistant at USC, who has coached Davis’ cousin at one point.

Florida assistant Aubrey Hill, UM's former recruiting coordinator, has been trying to persuade Davis to Gainesville, but Davis says he's not interested in UF or UM rival Florida State.

“(Golden) said I can’t play at Miami and that I’m not a Miami guy,” Davis said. “I’ve been Miami the whole time. Miami would have been my choice if I wasn’t for the coach. It just didn’t seem right for him that he was giving me attitude for no reason. He lied to me, he lied to my parents.”

Davis said that he’ll go to a school that he feels wanted and somewhere he can play early.

“I’ll still be Miami fan, I still love Miami,” Davis said. “But with the new coach, he and I just aren’t seeing eye-to-eye and if you’re not it’s not going to work out. Period. But there aint no love lost. I wanted to be there. I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to get the ‘U’ back to where it was.”

The timing of Golden's call makes it especially difficult for Davis, who was expecting to start classes at Miami in less than a week when Spring Semester classes start in Coral Gables on January 18th, and now must scramble to find an alternative.

LMAO at Golden being "family." Your family member tried to sneak off to Penn State in the middle of the night during the stretch run of recruiting. Zany old Uncle Al had his cell phone on silent while he tried to get the Penn St gig. Golden was looking down at 55 missed calls from James and Shalala, hitting reject so his pocket would stop lighting up. **** out of here.

PBuch has hoisted trophies for this U. He's been on record-breaking teams.

Golden hasn't even won a ******* bowl game. Dude can't even win his own division. He isn't part of this Miami clique. He's an outsider.

Family? SHEEEEEIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

I'm guessing they limit the access to former players on a case by case basis. No one should be surprised that PBuch isn't being granted sideline access.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6963460/miami-tightens-sideline-access-policy-home-games

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Boosters will no longer be permitted on the Miami sideline during home football games, a change that comes after a former donor who had field access at times sparked an NCAA investigation by claiming he provided 72 players and Hurricane recruits extra benefits over an eight-year span.

The moves go into effect starting with Saturday's home opener against No. 17 Ohio State. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the updated policy Monday.

Some of the changes are sweeping, including a policy that anyone without a game-day operations purpose -- even administrators, trustees and deans -- will no longer be able to receive field-access passes. Some university employees will be permitted to escort guests such as donors and potential donors onto the field during pregame warmups, but they must stay in a designated area on the visiting sideline and leave shortly before kickoff.

The former booster, convicted Ponzi scheme architect Nevin Shapiro, was one of many donors who had sideline access in recent years. Television cameras even captured Shapiro, in a Miami jersey, standing on the field near the team's tunnel as it emerged onto the field for a game at the now-demolished Orange Bowl. Shapiro ran into an end zone as well that night, having to be quickly ushered back to the sideline by a security guard.

A scene like that shouldn't happen under Miami's tighter policy.

Recruits and their guests, usually parents, will still be allowed on the field before games, though they will also need to be accompanied by an authorized university employee and must leave the field 22 minutes before kickoff.

In certain situations, former Miami football players will be credentialed to have access on the Hurricanes' side of the field, but would not be allowed in the team's bench area.

The university said that president Donna Shalala and athletic director Shawn Eichorst would both have to approve any exceptions to the new policy.

A number of NFL teams, including the Miami Dolphins -- who play in the same stadium where the Hurricanes are a tenant -- allow fans and some invited guest field-level views of games. Hundreds were on the Dolphins' side of the field for their opener against New England on Monday night, but were behind a temporary wall and positioned well away from Miami players and staff.

It's the schools policy not to allow former players on the sidelines during games. It came about after the scumbags scandal. Only players who are being honored can be on the sidelines now.

Now return to the bashing, which is all you do anyway.

Another Shalala policy of attempting to erase our history and embrace nerdy ******ry.

PB does not like Golden and yes he is good reasons not to like him.. but saying "i won't want to watch the game from press box or suits..." is a very big tell that his rant has nothing to do with his seating area but his dislike for Golden.

Players have been bared form side lines in MANY schools for MANY reasons.. INCLUDING Miami during the 1983-2005 that he states.

Maybe we have certain guests and the sideline is going to be slammed packed and only hand full of older players were allowed .. the ones that jumped on it from before.... also I recall seeing Portis on the sidelines at an away game jumping up and down! so there is more to this story and this is not "Golden not letting old school players stand on sidelines" and I am SURE he was given a good reason and was offered VIP treatment , press box and suit access....

PB helped this program and he earns the ticket to say what he wants but i am not buying this story as its being told

Don't ever take sides, with anyone, against the family, again.

So a fat creep with no ties to UM other than stealing checks who tried to slink away to Ped State last December is "family" to you, and a former great UM player who is passionate about the program isn't "family"?

Gotta love the coach worshipers on this site. They'll suck a coach's dyck no matter what he does and kill players every chance they get.

Fight the power- you're advocate is here...lulz
