Trouble attracting DTs?

We have no problem getting corners, safeties, and ends. So there is definitely a reason we sent pulling stud dts

They want to be able to attack the LOS and get into the backfield, not hold a gap. And it seems some grade issues and clouds, and street agents.

How well does Alabama recruit DTs,seems to me all the good ones go to LSU,FSU,Clemson,OSU and a few others while Alabama mostly recruits less heralded NTs that fit their scheme and surround them with the best DEs,LBs and DBs in the nation.

Its not the scheme, its the play calling. There is a difference. IF you give Dorito FSU playbook, he is still going to pick out the safe plays and call them. He has no guts nor feel for the game. He then tries to be aggressive and its telegraphed and countered easily. Golden needs to call the plays. Its the play calling that is the problem. 5 needed for first down and CBs are 10 yards away..and backing up. Something is not adding up or someone failed maths.

Our DL is asked to do the same thing Alabama's does, especially DTs. Scheme isn't the issue.

Ah ****, here we go!

a monkey could be the defensive coordinator at 'Bama. When you have the best players in the country its not hard to draw up schemes that work.

Mark however doesn't have the best players in the nation and is calling plays that would probably only work if we did. bottom line is that we we had the second worst defense in the ACC

Plus we were under the NCAA watch and no one wanted to commit if they were going to have additional bowl bans and the possible death penalty. Who the **** wanted to commit under these circumstances. Now we got 4 quality DTs in our last class. Before we had left over scrubs from Univ of Virginia because of 3 years of NCAA mess.

Coley did,so did Duke,Bush,Mccord,AQM,Flowers,Howard yetno top DT in their classes wanted any part of us.

Where do yall get that **** that bama get these lowly ranked dts? Because that **** is a lie.

terrence cody 4 star juco nt

marcell dareus 4 star dt

jesse willams 4 star juco nt

ashawn robinson 4/5 star dt freshman all american last year

dee liner 4/5 star dt

there current starting nt brandon ivory was a 4 star

there current backup nt dalvin tomlison was a 4 star

projected starter jarran reed 4 star juco dt 2014 class

they landed a 4 star nt in the 2014 class and have had plenty of other 4 star lineman from high school and juco since saban has been there. He aint going out getting 2 star guys and having them become all americans.

Our defensive front philosophy is to give ground or hold ground while making the ball carrier to commit to a gap within 1 to 2 yds of the LOS meaning if the carrier gets a 2yd gain the defense consider it a win. Where as bama teaches their front to push the LOS back 2 or 3 yds to reestablish a new LOS 3 yds into the backfield while still maintaing gap control leverage by the defense. So their front is way more aggressive up the middle than Miami's

Also as another poster mentioned bama generally takes low ranked DT's that fit a certain big body type that are athletic and then they put them in a S&C program for two years after which a Bama monster NT emerges. I think staff is starting to get in the players needed to run 2 gap front, but I think the scheme needs to be adjusted to be more aggressive which would benefit the speed style of play in the south.

We are talking about interior linemen: Ivory was a no star under the radar prospect that begged for a miami offer that got a ranking after he commit to bama, dareus was a 3* local bama kid, Lake was a 3* bama local kid, OJ Smith is a 3* (2014) Louisiana kid, TD Moton (2015) is a 3* Louisiana kid. Bama finds these kids early and works them hard. Nick Saban generally recruits these kids personally. Jesse Williams and Cody were a juco's and on the occasions Bama does take a JUCO, the player does tend be high ranked by default but that is not what matters to bama, bama has a type that the player must fit into period an as a juco the player has even less margin for error.

Go Canes

I think its because its hard to find quality DT talent. Kids that are 6'3 300lbs and athletic are very rare. That's why whenever they pop up in south florida, you see the SEC come flying down like a bat out of **** with the duffle bags. In other words, we are just flat out getting outrecruited for DTs. end of story.

The ones bolded aren't DTs they're DEs in their 34 system
But you're forgetting two more real NTs that they landed espeically last year they were 3 stars

Ivory was a NO star and MOVED UP to a three AFTER they picked him up. FWIW his coach was begging us to look at him. ALMOST or could have been a Cane.

**** my bad on ivory i had seen somewhere he was a 4 star.

my point remains those nther guys playing de in a 3-4 are dts. We are running more 3-4 than 4-3. So whatever dts we land will be playing de too just like moten.

I think Jimmy Johnson said there are only like 4-5 real difference making DT's available each year in the entire country.

Left wing statist plot to destroy THE U. See Miami is small "private" institution and the pro big government people wanted to take control of football back to the large state institutions. They even went so far as to plant operatives inside THE U to destroy from within(Yes, we see you, Dee, Foote and Donna). You think it is an accident that the other "private" football power, USC, got crushed by the man? Payoffs, bride, intimidation, sabotage are all normal operating procedures for these people. THE trUth will set U free!!!!!!

I've been told it's the exact opposite: the neo-cons got us into it so now they'll have to get us out.
