Triple Option

If Richt wasn't stuck in the 1990's then we could be implementing triple-option concepts into our spread offense. Plenty of spread coaches who have mobile quarterbacks do it.

Shotgun. Motion Jeff Thomas into the backfield, have Homer or Dallas run the dive, if Perry pulls it he has Thomas as the pitch man.

It's basically read-option with a pitch man added. Gives the QB 3 options.

If Gag Tek was full of 4* and 5* kids they would be running a high octane spread attack.

Like everyone else that has 4* and 5* kids.
I just saying , imagine if a legit talented team in today’s game running it . Tua with his backs and
4-5 star kids won't go to a triple option team. The NFL doesn't want Olineman that only cut block. They don't want WRs they are essentials extra linemen that catch a pass once per game. They don't want a QB that has 15 completions per year(99%of the triple option QBs that go pro end up as RBs). Even the RBs don't really transition well to the NFL unless they are just a beast athlete. The triple option RB has much different duties compared to an NFL RB. Even defensive players don't really want to go to a triple option school because if the offense is good they will rarely be on the field and not have much tape and if the O is trash they will be on the field all game long.
You missing the point , I get all the nfl stuff . Back in the day , they didn’t care . Top players from Nebraska, Dame , Oklahoma ran it and still went pro . I would like to see just one elite team that could have the recruits, forget the nfl and all that . How would Bama look versus Clemson with their current players running in today’s football. You have the running backs plus Juedy to catch bombs . Sorry , I know this thread sucks . I am spending a minute wondering about what if instead of how bad our season has become. Mark , let’s try bringing back the wishbone

GT is currently ranked #22 in total offense. They get average athletes that are system players. Opponents know they're going to run, run, run and still can't stop it. They have games where they don't even throw a pass and put up 40+ points.

Imagine if they could get some athletes and a top 10 defense.

With Hayden and company on their duffs 6 yards in the backfield, our QB and pitch back would need to be hurdles champions.

GT is going to knock the Canes **** in the dirt. Meanwhile, Richt won't know what down it is. ****, he might have Rosier spike the ball with no time running on the clock.

I always enjoy a well run triple option offense. I’m not saying I want it here , but I am curious to see a team like Ohio state , Oklahoma, or bama run it . Imagine if Paul jouhson landed a gig at a top program like that . Your offense is designed for playing with less talented players . I wonder if he would have 4 nattys if tech was full of 4 and 5 star recruits.
The effectiveness of that offense is diminished the more a team sees it. I’d expect him to have at best one good season, but nothing more.

I don’t think our D will get their **** knocked.

The o will.

"Imagine if they had 5 star athletes, how awesome they would be?" The wouldn't have 5 star athletes because no recruit worth **** wants to play in that offense. No quarterback wants to get hit every single play. No quarterback wants to throw the ball 5 times a game. No receiver wants to block 95% of the plays and maybe catch one pass a game if he's lucky. No player with any hope of playing professionally would ever come to your school. In the 70's the NFL drafted players from triple option and wishbone teams because that's what 90% of college football teams ran at the time.

Lol you are talking about players last century. The game has changed a lot. The NFL is not going to draft cut blocking OL, WRs with only a few catches per year, or triple option QBs. They even are less likely to pick up the RBs. If Bama ran the triple option against Clemson running their normal offense. Bama loses. If Clemson runs the triple option against Bama. Clemson loses. It is a ancient offense that is useless to use if you have elite players. Yes they would still beat up on the scrub teams, but they would no longer be an elite team and they would never get another 4 or 5 star again.

Triple option has always given the Canes fits since 2008.
Diaz has done a pretty decent job of preparing for it. He's held GT to well under their rushing average in both games he's coached against them. We're talking about an offense that averages over 300 a game on the ground. Holding them to 200 is a significant victory.

Terrible one-dimensional offense that causes your overall team to have a low ceiling.
Ain't nobody winning big with that offense.

They have a terrible D as well. There are no excuses for us this week.

Perry is starting as well. I expect us to show out.
