Trevor Lawrence NOT opting out

Clemson will get him a huge policy . He’s set.
Not so sure about that. The premiums on one of those policies are probably much higher if you want them to cover something like Covid. Not sure the coverage would be worth the premium. But what do I know, I’m just a dumb Actuary.

I tried to tell y’all. This is what it means to be part of an elite program that lost in the championship game last year. Mad respect to him and everyone on the mission To win a title for Clemson

You do realize the draft is next year right? He can get Clemson money now and NFL money next year.
Or get exposed and go in the 2nd round. There is zero upside in playing this season for him. He can only hurt his stock.

If he gets a serious injury, insurance would never completely cover his rookie contract and definitely not his second contract.

Good for them I guess but Dabo is playing with fire though. If one of these kids that should’ve left and is convinced by Dabo to stay and get seriously hurt it may hurt future recruiting.

He's the most highly touted QB prospect by scouts since Andrew Luck even if he ripped his knee to shreds he'd still be a top 3 pick.

He's already put enough on tape to get a good eval on his ability at the next level, injury doesn't affect lottery draft pick QB's like it does for every other position.

Tua just had a dislocated hip & a ton of other injuries & still got drafted top 5. Trust me, Trevor Lawrence is first QB off the board for the 2021 draft regardless of what injury he has unless it's a spinal injury that leaves him physically incapable of playing football ever again.
Agree with everything you said. But that actually supports opting out does it not?

I get the odds are small, really small but if he has a career ending injury to his neck then what?

Clemson will promise him a job for life I guess so he’ll always be taken care of.

The kid truly wants to play football which the scouts will love.

I gotta respectfully disagree with you there. Once upon a time MIA football players ran South FLA & MIA. They had more stardom & popularity then professional athletes in the city. Specifically players from the Dolphins & Marlins. The reason for this is because the MIA football team has always been S.FLA's team, so there will always be a strong connection between the community & the players. There was a time when the players in the region cared less about brand promotion & chasing a check quickly as possible, and more about winning and becoming the best football player they could possibly be. So the main divide that exists is not between podunk college town vs alpha-level world city. It's between winning & losing. In many ways it's a catch-22 situation. The players are leaving early because for the past 15+ yrs the program top to bottom has not committed itself to winning, but in order to win the program needs players to stay.

When was this the early 80s?.

Ive lived here all my life. Its seldom the truth...and im not talking just the south florida sport teams...Joe Schmoe from Brckell has more pull than these dudes. This is a metro politan area with lots of money.

I mean for god sakes we got dudes runnin scams durng the pandemic to buy lambos.

Most south florida players are wred different than these dudes// country bumpkins. The end game is the nfl..these dudes are revered in ther towns just for going to clemson/bama.

Players ALWAYS will leave early from here...thats why you recruit above them every class.

Zero to do with being from S FL or from Alaska. Has everything to do with being a competitor. We laugh at pictures of Tebow crying after a loss. But you need guys that hurt like that when they lose and would do anything not to feel that way. Those players don't need a coach to motivate them. That's why you rarely see a team like Bama letting a G5 hang around. They generally play with the same intensity as when they play another Sec school.

I think we are starting to get those players and even Diaz has changed his recruiting philosophy. I think he's getting dogs now. We could have lots of players opting out, but we only have GR15. That's a welcome change from the past.
South Florida kids are the most competitive in the country BY FAR. Its the reason we have the best high school football in America.

The main guy i was surprised we had leave early was Bandy. He loves the U, and could of benefited By staying another Year. Deejay is a true cane, but il never fault an RB for leaving early.
deejay was productive for 3 years.

Remember how it ended for Andrew Luck? That guy who … “…loves the game“ “…plays the game the right way” “…brought up right” and the “fans” who will ALWAYS love that type of player, you know the one who will make every sacrifice for his team, and like Butkus and the players of old, even play with shredded knees…

And then you’ll have some athletes who will be defended by some while others … not.

Jim Brown was called a quitter when he retired. He didn’t give a ****. Get your money GR15. “fans” gonna “fan”.

If it’s about protecting their future, then why isn’t this more prevalent every year. Why doesn’t every draft eligible player thats projected as an early pick just sit out? Just as mush of chance suffering a serious injury as they do catching Covid. So why not just sit out and prepare for the draft?
Sad thing about this opt out season and the “go get your money” pvssy culture is that it sets the new bar for college football.

These guys aren’t opting out because they’re scared of Covid. Shortcuts or they hate their coaches or school.

Watch for the top guys to start opting out of seasons from this point forward. It started with bowls. Now it’s the Covid excuse. People see that there’s no backlash so the next logical step is you’ll see opt outs from this point forward.

If the logic is why risk getting hurt then why wouldn’t that same logic apply after Covid is out of the picture?

Sometimes you just love to play. Football has many higher risks than covid. So should every projected 1st rounder opt out after two seasons? They finally got NIL but it's not enough. The progressive movement never ends. It's death by 1000 cuts. Won't be long before college football looks like college basketball. **** shame.

Legacy and trophies is why he’s coming back, no need to hate on him for that. There’s way more money in opting out.

Yup, the second part will always be there. The first, you can't put a price tag on that and you'll always wonder what could've been.

I'll tell you what, they've got a monster coming in behind him though in DJ not gonna spell his last name. Monster true frosh who's not going to be much of a fall off at all, if any.

So is there shenanigans going down or is Clemson really this heavenly utopian paradise that it gets made out to be? I mean I get that there is such thing as championship culture and mind set but god dayum dudes just don’t leave there. **** Clemson and dabo .
