Ask Rusty Medearis what his one regret in his career was, and it was getting hurt so he couldn't play football anymore.

The money is great, but there are guys out there that just love the game.

**** Butkis played his last couple of years with blown knees. He had plenty of money and endorsements, but he wanted to keep playing football.

Same goes with Brian Bosworth. Yeah, he got runned through by Bo Jackson, but he was a decent player in the NFL and had he not had degenerative shoulder injuries, he would've had a long career.

I was told as a young boy that if you do something that you love, you never work a day in your life.

While that's not exactly true (you have to work hard in any profession to be successful), there are some guys that truly love what they do. And it's not just exclusive to sports either. :)
 
Don't many of Clempson's juniors come back? We need that team culture back here. Maybe winning begets this mentality... but Marvin Lewis is 'opting in' to that dumpter fire @ FSU after the Norvell debacle...

Yep. People, friendship, experiences, bonds, camaraderie, principles matter more that $$ to some than others.

He's the most highly touted QB prospect by scouts since Andrew Luck even if he ripped his knee to shreds he'd still be a top 3 pick.

He's already put enough on tape to get a good eval on his ability at the next level, injury doesn't affect lottery draft pick QB's like it does for every other position.

Tua just had a dislocated hip & a ton of other injuries & still got drafted top 5. Trust me, Trevor Lawrence is first QB off the board for the 2021 draft regardless of what injury he has unless it's a spinal injury that leaves him physically incapable of playing football ever again.

You have no idea the kind of teammate he was. Him deciding to do what is best for his health doesn’t mean he didn’t have team pride. I can guarantee you every single one of his teammates won’t have a bad word to say about him.

You wanna make excuses for a player who quit on his team and on top of that was the best player on his team and instead of quitting, should have been leading by example like Ed Reed did and like Lawrence is doing then be guest my guest sport! But quitting is quitting, no matter how you wanna spin it and I guarantee there’s teammates on that team that lost a little respect for him yesterday by quitting on them when they truly had a chance to contend for something meaningful this year. Now they’ll never admit to the media or anything but behind closed doors you better believe that’s going on. And I don’t need to see what kind of a teammate he was because him selfishly as the best player on the team quitting before the season even started aafter only playing a half a season last year is all I need to know about the person he is. Smh

And the terrible thing about Andrew Luck was; if he had half the team Tom Brady had, we'd might've considered him 'the guy' after Brady retired. He was that good.

Irsay ruined a very good QB prospect by not protecting him with *decent* offensive linemen and caused him to retire early.

If it’s about protecting their future, then why isn’t this more prevalent every year. Why doesn’t every draft eligible player thats projected as an early pick just sit out? Just as mush of chance suffering a serious injury as they do catching Covid. So why not just sit out and prepare for the draft?
 
People keep talking injuries as a reason to not to play but recent history shows that even injured players still get picked. Tua just last year was thought to have a "career ending" hip injury and dude was still drafted 5th overall. Mcgahee's knee injury was one of the most horrific I've seen and he was still drafted in the first. The odds of Sunshine not being the #1 overall pick even with a injury this year is extremely low.

Liberty echoed this as well. Qb’s will be taken early in the draft, regardless.

To beat players with first round talent and able to play in the league now you have to have the same or a freak of a QB. Clemson and Bama have faced each other enough times to know that. Clemson beat Bama with four day one picks in the trenches or some crazy sht like that and 3 of them were predicted day one picks if they would’ve left a year earlier. So they’re basically playing with nfl players while our players have been leaving to be udfa.
Until manny stops it and the players realize that it’s the only way your brothers stand a chance to be at the top we won’t get there. Our own chief of staff stayed one more year to win a championship.

This is the difference of kids who live in Clemson, Tuscaloosa and kids in south florida.

Trevor Lawrence and his teammates are the big dogs in ther college towns. They are rding aroun din their f150's and chargers and are stars. They have no previous players hardly returning to their schools from the league and are seen as gods and get preferrential treatment EVERYWHERE.

-Most of our guys return from the nfl to work out in the offseason./..including other nfl stars. They work out with these guys. They see themselves as comparable. They see how close it is. F150's and chargers arent sh*t down here, there are ferrari's and lambos every other stop light. Trevor Lawrence could be in heisman contention at Miami and he would be asmall fry in the scheme of things in south florida when it comes to prestge and stardom.

Different mentality in South Florida, thats why we have guys soon as they have any type of grade...they are bouncing. 6th round to undrafted doesnt matter..they are betting on themselves

Dont know if it's been mentioned in the thread but he has a multi million dollar insurance policy, a luxury most other players do not enjoy. He was always gonna play.

I tell you what tho: I bet he wont finish the season.
