Tressel Put OSU Into Probation; Butch Took UM Off of Probation; Both are 67. Am I Missing Something Here?

Tressel, don't like him, but he's an absolute bona fide winner everywhere he goes in every capacity. Risky as **** in that you'll likely end up on probation, anything goes, but at least in that state, he's god. X's and O's, knowing your tram and what he can get out of them, he's top notch. Elite coach, just gotta determine if the risk is worth the reward. Great eye for talent as well.

Stop reaching. JJ is still available too...

He was Paul Dee's first choice back in 95 and accepted but had marital issues and had to back out. He would have done well here but would have left us when Cooper finally got let go by OSU.

People make up odd things about coaches UM has offered on here.

No coach would turn down Miami to stay at YSU. My God.

Shoot the pansy a%% Coker for allowing Tressel on to Greentree fields after the 2001 NC....

Tressel was an excellent coach but I don't think we need someone that hasn't coached in 10 years.

Disagree... Look at Mack Brown, hasn't coached since 2010. They already have a better record than last year. Yes, their record is not great either but they are lightyears ahead of last year. They are competitive this year. Sometimes you just need someone who knows how to win. Doesn't matter if its an old dog or an up-and-comer.

Dee indeed offered Tressel the Miami job. I don't recall Tressel accepting the job and backing out. I do remember his wife did not care to leave Ohio, as one reason for declining.

no thanks to either, but tressel is a better coach and i personally dont think its close. he was a consistent winner at OSU and led them to 2 title game appearances under him with different teams. he just hasnt coached in forever, so no thansk
