Treon transferring?

Oregon has a few studs after Mariotta is gone. He is wasting his time if he wants to get some PT up there. He had better talk to Ice Sr. and think about changing positions to a school that wants your talents.

It's crazy, but this may be that rare case in college football where everybody actually behaved honorably:

- The kid believed in himself, and picked a school that would let him stay at QB
- The dad didn't pressure him to go to UM, even though that would probably have been better for dad
- The UM coaches didn't lie to him and say he would get a real shot at QB
- The UF coaches actually let him get a real shot at QB

Now, those UF coaches are leaving, and the decision changes.

I like Miami's odds, actually, since as someone pointed out above, they may be able to get him to play here as a walk-on in his first year, with Ice working for the university.
 
Tuition assistance for faculty members and their dependents is common to many college systems around the country. Children of UM staff pay less the traditional enrollees. Does anyone know the cost to them?

They can't stop him from transferring to UM. His dad works for UM, so maybe he doesn't need the FB scholarship the first year.

Spouses, Partners and eligible dependents are eligible for tuition remission based on the length of time the employee has been employed and the status of their employment at the University. Eligible dependents are limited to a maximum of 128 attempted credits or such other higher credit number as meets the requirements of the degree.

Dependent: A spouse recognized under Florida law, a University certified domestic partner or dependent child as defined below. A marriage license is proof of dependency for a spouse.

Dependent Child: An unmarried natural, adopted or step-child receiving 50 percent or more support from the University Employee.

Proof of Dependency: Every dependent of a University employee enrolled in the University of Miami health care plan will be eligible for tuition remission, provided they meet all the other tuition remission requirements. Certification of a dependent child requires a copy of the employee’s most recent IRS tax return (1040 U.S. Individual Income Tax Return); however, exceptions will be made in certain circumstances, such as divorce.

Dependent Child Eligibility: To be eligible for this benefit, the dependent child must begin an undergraduate degree-seeking program before reaching the age of 23. For graduate study, the dependent child must begin a graduate degree-seeking program within two years of the date of the completion of an undergraduate degree. The dependent child will not be eligible for tuition remission for any semester that begins after reaching 27 years of age.

Employee hired as a full/part time regular after 9/1/2002:

Years of Employment Benefit

First year 0%
2-5 years 70%
6-10 years 85%
11 + years 100%

As our runningbacks coach, his dad probably makes enough money to pay for a year anywhere he wants.
 
The sit-out rule is based not on $$$ but on NCAA rules to discourage transfers. If UF wants to waive the rule it can. If not, the player can go to a lower divison and play right away or go to any same level school and not play one year. I suspect that UF would not insist on sitting out at the U because we are not in their conf and do not play PLUS his dad is connected in the state and could really bad mouth UF.......

To be clear, he can transfer to UM regardless of what UF does. The only thing a release does is allow him to be on scholarship at his new school while he sits out the year of residence required by the NCAA. If they don't release him, he can still transfer, but can't be on scholarship his first year at the new school. In either case he still has to sit out a year of residence before he can play.

Obviously, transferring to a lower division, or a graduate transfer is a different animal, and not in play here.

He never said he is Transferring...................Haters staring Rumors.
 
Hate when kids don't receive the proper counseling, just because you can play a position, doesn't mean you a better suited for the position. College is an audition for possibly $millions in the NFL. Treon would be best suited at another skill position if he wants a chance at those possible $millions
