Trent Dilfer blasts portal/NIL abuse

Trent's just jealous that Fresno never dropped a bag for him.

He's the coach at UAB now. I'm sure he's already sick of his guys getting poached and he's going into this first year
 
I agree with everything he says, besides rhe lifetime ban. Then again, if you're dumb enough to put something that'll get you into hot water on paper, you get what you deserve. Anyone with a brain knew this was happening from the early days of the portal. It sucks for the schools that lose a great player, but it's good for that player and I agree with how he feels on that. You want what's best for you guys.
 
It’s easy to say stuff like this when you’re at UAB because you know none of these elite recruits are coming there anyways. On a side note, has there ever been a worse QB to win a Super Bowl than The Dilf’? I’m trying to think of one but for the life of me I can’t. Thankfully, he had one of the greatest Defense’s ever picking up his slack.

It’s why I don’t bother with the “rings” argument when discussing great quarterbacks. Trent Dilfer and Jeff Hostetler have rings. Dan Marino and Philip Rivers don’t

Did you read the article?

It's about P5 programs poaching the rest of the nation and illegally approaching / offering deals even when someone hasn't put their name in the portal.

What Dilfer did or didn't do in the NFL doesn't matter.

My point was that he probably only has an issue with it because he’s on the short end of it. If he were the head coach at Bama or Georgia he’d be doing the exact same thing he’s criticizing others for. It’s part of the landscape now, and it’s happening to a bunch of schools, not just P5. Heck, Bama tried to tamper with our QB.

We can't say what he'd do wherever.

Trent is what he is and IMO, he's one of the good guys in the sport. There's others out there for sure and he seems to indicate he's got evidence of a P5 admin talking to a kid of his, I don't think he'd allow that himself. Again, just an opinion.

He's right though, where he is, it shouldn't be happening. I'm glad he said it and I wish he'd call them out directly.
