I don't want any young man to get hurt. I do want to see all of the Genrons of the world however to get their feet knocked out from under them. Golden can't take any South Fl. Kid seriously until these guys are neutered.

Contrary to all the bs people spew on message boards, LSU plays by the same set of admission rules we do. If he can get into LSU, he could be admitted here.

Absolutely not true. He still needed additional work to get into Miami.

The other difference is that LSU counts urban slang as a foreign language.

You're missing the point. The NCAA sets the admission standards for any incoming student athlete and it is the same across the board for every school in D1. We have made exceptions in the past and certainly would've for a foreign language class I'd imagine. When a kid is recruited, we know their academic standing from the word go. It would be disingenuous to say the least if we knew we wouldn't let him in due to one credit he didn't have time to make up, but he'd be good to go elsewhere.

We'll see what happens, but if he can get in there, he could've gotten in here.

we have to be the most obsessive fan base. two of the newest threads on our recruiting board have to do with guys that aren't coming here. and somehow people are finding something to argue about which is even funnier.

Not sure what wasn't clear about the class he was missing. He mentioned it during the process.....he would have had to take an additional class to get in to UM that he wouldn't have to take at LSU. The same thing happened in our favor when the SEC wouldn't accept Sandlands online math class or something. There are different standards above and beyond the NCAA minimum. Your initial point about the "bs people spew" has clearly been proven wrong. Also, we don't make exceptions, ask Wyche.

IIRC his grades were so turrible, it was questioned whether he would be able to enroll in LSU. LSU !

NO....you are missing the point. Below is a passage from an article from ESPN:

The NCAA defines special admissions programs as those designed for students who don't meet "standard or normal entrance requirements." The NCAA says such exceptions are fine as long as schools offer the same opportunities to everyone from dancers, French horn players and under-represented minorities as they do to fleet-footed wide receivers and 300-pound offensive linemen.

Schools like Alabama, LSU, and West Virginia use this loophole. These type of students fall below the admission standards you are talking about. However, schools such as Miami aren't as inclined to use these special admission standards because of the quality of the normal admitted student.

I usually agree, but I am very interested in his potential failure. Just so I can update my notes as to why he is not at Miami:
- Genron
- $cheme
- Penn $t.
- Tracy Howard

You know, it seems to me a number of months back I kept on saying on here there was an academic issue with this kid and nobody believed me. Everything was all "scheme" and Genron. I kept on saying, I heard, from a source I thought was reliable, that there was a real issue academically, and that he and his mother had to accept what might have been a special program or academic scenario that was designed for him. I don't think the Valentines wanted any part of that. They wanted the easy way, the surer way out, and it might have come back to bite them, since even that might not be working.

We'll have to wait to see how it plays out but I had a real good hunch-based on what my friend said--a friend who was a veteran of many years as virtually unpaid staff in the recruiting office--that there could be something academic going on with Valentine. Nobody wanted to believe me because everybody was all hung up in hating on and blaming Genron or D'Onofrio (The former was worth hating on--if you don't know what I mean by "former" think Genron).

A little early for me to say "I told you so" and it might never be accurate, but I just wanted to remind that I was like a voice in the wilderness saying there might have been something else going on. Not just "scheme."

Can he get a credit in Ebonics? Will they count that. Heck, everytime I see another word on this board that I don't understand, I google it,and up comes the Urban Dictionary.
