Travis Waller is interested in Miami

UCLA, USC and now Arizona state all have QB commits. If Wimbrush goes to penn state and Gibson goes to Tennessee that's opens the door for Miami. But is he higher on their board than Ryan Stanley Or Nick Tiano?

Oregon is considered the leader and they don't have a Qb committed yet...

From Bruce Feldman's first story writing for FOX Sports about the 2015 SoCal QB class...

"What used to seem early now has become perilously late. That's how much the recruiting calendar has shifted in the past few years for college football coaches as they crisscross the country scouring for talent as part of this year's spring evaluation period that began on April 15. Need a quarterback? You're probably too late if you haven't already locked in on one."

Yet we were planning to contact Waller last week and are still in the process of evaluating him. No offer yet for a premier talent who has high interest in Miami. Lagging behind and it's unacceptable.

"Greg Biggins, a Southern California-based national recruiting analyst for scout.com, [says] that Travis Waller's stock is soaring and he could actually end up as his No. 1 guy. The 6-3, 195-pound Waller, who doubles as a standout triple jumper and sprinter on the Servite track team, is still uncommitted but has seen his offer list swell in the past few weeks as colleges have flocked to his high school to check him out."

Biggins added that he believes Waller has a higher ceiling than Ricky Town and Josh Rosen. Obviously a different type of quarterback, but he's made an "astronomical" jump.

We've offered Nick Tiano, but not Travis Waller. Regardless of whether Tiano's offer is committable or not, let that sink in.

Nothing in the story this site did indicates he would have high interest. An offer for Waller wouldn't make him commit on the spot. The kid is still trying to accumulate more offers and appears open to all comers at this point. He doesn't even have a list. At this point he doesn't appear to be the top priority of any of the schools he'd really have interest in.

"If Miami were to offer they would definitely be in my top group that I am considering attending."

Could it just be lip service during an interview for a Miami site? Possibly. But an offer from Miami is long overdue for a quarterback of his caliber, especially since our top two targets were always longshots to commit here.

Waller's the type of kid who ends up at a program like Oregon and tears apart the Pac-12 for a few years. My point is that he should be a top priority for us. The kid is a heck of a talent.

Oregon would have to offer first. Waller is a longshot himself. West Coast kid who would have to be convinced that we would tailor the offense around his skills. He appears to be considered by even the programs that have long standing offenses that fit his skills as a B level prospect that they'll only consider seriously when their top options are gone.

Oregon and Alabama visited him yesterday to watch him throw and he may hear if an offer is coming by the end of the week, according to Biggins.

It's likely inevitable at this point.

Waller's far more than just some B level backup option. Heck of a talent, IMO. Clearly we disagree about him.

Unless Wimbush surprises all. We are striking out on our A level guys and the only other guy that has some sort of offer. Is quite frankly a F level guy imo.

He appears to be backup option for the elite programs. He has an offer from Penn State, maybe. Would they allow Waller to commit if Wimbush told them he needed more time? Oregon is still evaluating him while they have offers out to and wait on other QBs they have higher on their list. It isn't about Waller and his talent level and more you framing the situation like clearly Miami is slow on this. He is a guy who isn't in the first come, first serve group. He isn't a runt but he has to wait as the elite QBs come off the board. Wimbush comes off tonight. Maybe that is when Miami ramps up the interest. When Kyler Murray makes a decision, maybe Oregon is next to throw an offer his way. You can be a very good prospect and still be a plan B option.

Dwayne Lawson from Tampa has an offer. I haven't been following him so I don't know how heavy the interest is, but isn't like Tiano is the only one with an offer that Miami is recruiting.

That guy's top 3 doesn't even consist of Miami. UF and Tenn are running that show and if those fail UCF is the 3rd. Also have OSU looming and if they miss on Wimbush. They might turn up the heat.

In the past 24 hours, Waller has been invited to the Elite 11 final and has also been offered by Alabama.

Like I was saying, he's a big time talent. We've apparently landed our 1 QB for this cycle, but Waller's going to have a bunch of great options to choose from.
