Travis Haney (ESPN Writer) quote

I saw something earlier on Rich Rod where he has something stipulated in his contract that results in much more money. Needless to say, I'd be shocked if Rich Rod leaves Arizona.

Rich Rod isn't leaving Arizona. He'd be a fool to.

The local boosters cut him in on some of the local fracking revenue. He gets, iirc, somewhere around a 20 million dollar payday bonus. His assistants get z cut, too.

If this is true, he would be an idiot to leave and come here. AZ has no aspirations to win a title. He can win 7-9 games a year and fall into a 10 win season once every 5 years and beat ASU every other year and he will be the King of Tuscan.

First of all, **** Rich Rod. Dude was in over his head at Michigan, and failed miserably. Now he's enjoying MILD success and somehow he's a superstar again? **** that.

To the point - the writer is right in that it is time to put up or shut up when it comes to administrative support. If it is a true statement, then that is fantastic, but after what we have been subjected to I imagine that we are all pretty skeptical (but hopeful all the same).

Just sharing something I read on ESPN Insider:

On that subject, those close to the program have told me in recent weeks that the school is laboring to let candidates know that the administrative commitment to football is going to improve in the future. But it’s time to show, not tell.

By doing what? Committing to a new on campus-ish stadium? I sure hope it's not coming to that. BJ should be able to sell prospective coaches on the facilities considering almost $30M has been invested in football facilities the past 5 years or so.

Think about that for a second. A college football coach getting a $20 million bonus.

Which is why he isn't leaving for another gig.

Some of the boosters just handed him shares of their company to come there. He gets paid a salary, with bonuses, and he collects dividends from all these boosters.

Not a bad idea as an incentive to get Chip Kelly down here, eh?

This is exactly what I mentioned to LuCane or D$ ... Don't remember who ... When discussing why Dan Mullen would or wouldn't be a fit.

I feel like the "leaking" or "promoting" of what we are willing to pay this time was a direct shot to Mullen. Basically telling him, "if you're ready to coach like a big boy, we're willing to pay like one".

I think that's consistent with going after a big fish candidate. Maybe, Gundy is also in that mix ... Though I don't see him leaving his school. But I think Miami is doing what it can to shed to the "cheap school" label.

It's almost more important that we show a strong, way above what was expected financial investment as that we get exactly the right guy. People need to be left dumb founded by a long term financial commitment.

The first step in recovery is to admit the problem. So I'm going to guess its good they recognized the neglect the football program has had

You're absolutely right. I think it's more important that we overpay the next HC to show the world we're serious than it is to hire the right guy.

The point, which you missed, is that it isn't true.

Rich Rod sucks. Look at the Arizona schedule this year. One real win, the rest are Al Golden type wins against joke teams. He's lost nearly every conference game. Why the **** would we want that?

Donna took this football program down by herself, anyone who tells you otherwise is uninformed or a nerd.

I appreciate what we're hearing about a new commitment to the program, and I get people are excited about what was said a booster's luncheon, but at this point it's rightfully become "show me don't tell me." Hopefully Frenk and Blake realize what a monster this program can be and what an asset it can become for the university if anyone puts an ounce of interest into it.

Rich Rod is not coming here. He's got a ridiculous contract at Arizona that includes equity stake in company that makes money from fracking.
