I just moved to Asheville form the Seattle area and heading to the unc game to watch Berrios Jr. get his revenge while the country realizes that TVD should be drafted above maye.

A college buddy of mine from San Diego is flying out to meet up Friday and we're staying two nights. I was thinking we book something near the warehouse district downtown and just uber to the stadium Saturday (37 miles or so, I know)..

Any other suggestions for the area? Oldish timer (first game was Syracuse in the OB 1993), Mid-40s here, craft beer fan, decent restaurants, etc. Thanks,
Did I hear Asheville.....

1. Chapel Hill isn't a suburb of Raleigh, it's Berkeley east.
2. Asheville is a fake overpriced mtn town like Blowing Rock, Beech Mtn, and Boone
3. Stay in downtown Durham...Great restaurants and bar scene. Don't stray from downtown or you'll catch a bullet.
4. Raleigh is fine but crime is rising and its half an hour from Chapel Hill
5. If you hike/backpack leave Asheville to do so and head to Hot Springs, Franklin, or Damascus, VA. Bryson City is a cool bohemian mtn town.

Sounds like someone got their feelings hurt in Asheville....

If you are talking about going to Franklin, NC you broke the first rule and your bag is now a bit lite, that town is fluid fecal matter. Bryson is alright, saved by the influx of people on the river and lake, you'd do just as well to stroll through Sylva.

I've skied Beech, Sugar, and Hawksnest (when it had skiing) dozens of times. It's not out West, but I've never had a bad time. Out West, Telluride is a must visit if you ever get the chance. Big Sky is on my one day to do list.

Telluride is great. Taos in NM. Snowmass. Solitude in UT. Big Sky is fine, but Jackson Hole is better, and if I'm going that far north, I just keep going to Canada (Revelstoke, W/B, LL). East....ugh...VT or bust. Jay Peak and Smuggs is about it. Not wasting my money anywhere else. If you're into skiing, you can probably tell that I don't like long lift lines, but if I can't avoid the lines, there better be a big vertical.

Nah, native here with family in Asheville, Brevard, Weaverville...Asheville isn't a mtn town anymore. It's solid for overpriced food, housing, and homeless people. My cousins who lived there have moved to Maggie Valley and Black Mtn to get away from the mess. Franklin is quaint and only 10 miles from the AT crossing at Winding Stair gap. I'm biased ill admit as an AT backpacker though. Anyway. I'm off topic at this point.

I'm just thankful I hit some of those well before prices became absolutely absurd. The downside, the kids won't experience all of that. There's some interesting issues not only with that, but snowfall amounts prior to last season, affordability for people to live work, etc. It used to be affordable for a ski trip a season if that was your vacation, but now it's starting to out price even the middle class.

I've heard good things about Snowshow, WV on the east coast. I don't know why I didn't ever go.

It looks like you've been given good advice.

As a Cane fan, I appreciate that you're going out to Chapel Hill.

I believe Coach understands how much we need to beat these f****.

Enjoy it I think we'll bring them a f****** serious game.

I would give advice but I went to South Carolina to see my grandpa pass. 2 years ago.

Go be a Cane!
I
I live in DC and love going to NC for fall games - I hated in the previous setup that Duke and UNC were always home or away games for Miami in the same year otherwise I would have gone down every year. Unfortunately I can't make it to UNC as I am out of the country that weekend, but do plan to go to the NC State game.
