Transfer Season 2018

Unless you’re in the upper echelon of teams in South FL, you’re screwed more often than not. If you’re a mid level or low level team, if you have a stud athlete, they’ll more than likely be poached by a big time School with “promises” of things that the old school can’t give. Sucks bc those schools put the time and effort into developing the kid and in the blink of an eye, he’s gone.

I like coaching and South FL is my home but it makes me wonder if I want to come back and coach there. The culture is so toxic. I was just talking to a coach at a really good school in New Orleans. Even though the whole school system is charter schools, he said that the only “recruiting” is from middle schools, since there aren’t feeder schools. Once they get to high school, they usually stay where they are. He said he’d probably have to throw hands if a coach took his kids from HS lol.

I saw something in another thread that led me back here. Unless I'm seeing things, it seems like Denzel Daxon and Samuel Anaele transferred from Norland down to Doral Academy.

Those transfer announcements are about the gheyest **** I've seen, and I watch copious amounts of ghey ****. I'm starting to think some of these guys are transferring just so they can write a dramatic soliloquy.

"First, I want to thank all the coaches that spent so much time with me to teach me and get me where I'm at so I can fck them in the *** and be a groupie and leave them without a QB at the last minute. God bless you, coaches!"

EXACTLY.

My alma mater went into the 2nd round of the playoffs last year...Had a solid group of kids.

Got raided by Miramar, Boyd Anderson..team won 1 game this year. ( Huff who we are recruiting at LB started).Dominic Watt the best prospect ended up committing to Nebraska...somewhere he likely goes to if he stays at the alma mater anyway as he had a boatload of offers already anyway.

So now Huff will be listed as a STA product..when his film is from Mca...and all his offers are based on him being at Mca...but no no no...they told him sta GOT him those offers lol

they are following their coach. The guy that got everything moving at Champagnat and likely a poster on this site.

Chise! I’m going to be honest, I’m gonna pretend you didn’t say that about they ****.😂😂😂😂😂😂

But that’s pretty spot on about those kids.

Fool, where were you when I was crying about the same exact **** with our Western kids? LOL

It's crazy in South FLA. The off-season is like a free agency market. Schools lose kids but then gain kids at the same time.

A buddy of mine lost a D1 O-Lineman to STA but gained a D1 WR from Boyd Anderson and a D1 QB from Arch Bishop.

He's got a 9th grader who already has offers from ACC schools. Ain't no **** way he's keeping him. STA or AH will snatch him by his Junior year. You can bet on it.

Don't forget the obligatory "after much prayer..." as if the Big Man Upstairs is a big STA and AH fan, followed by "please respect my decision".

Didn't they also get one of Archbishop's best defensive players too?

I'm not a big fan of the transfers either, but it's just apart of the game now there's no stopping it.

It has both its benefits & negatives for certain teams, like for MNW if it wasn't for transfers we probably wouldn't have won a State title last year. The biggest weakness for MNW was the secondary in 2016 it's why CC beat us in the playoffs. But in the offseason MNW picked up Divaad Wilson from Pace & got Wildgoose from Gables (who had transferred from BTW before that) & that solidified our secondary. Which was actually pillaged by STA when they stole Troutman the year before lol

Alot of the transfers are due to Coaching changes, like with Miami High they lost Sedrick Irvin to Southridge & MNW was able to get their best playmaker in 2020 WR Marcus Fleming & the QB I posted earlier. Even though STA always steal kids from Dillard & all over Broward/Dade, Dillard had a coaching change this offseason so most of those good prospects were out the door anyway.

Same thing happened last year to Coco Creek, they had one of the most stacked secondaries in South Fla they were 4-5 deep with D1 CB/S's, but then they had a coaching change & like 3 of'em transferred.

One of the all timers for me was when Lamarcus Joyner transferred from Southwest Miami to St. Thomas.
When I first heard it I said "Might as well transfer to Jacksonville Bolles if you're going that far.
See the whole state fam." lol smh

Greg Rousseu is from Coconut Creek area or thereabouts right? And he's in school in Hialeah.

I wonder what the furthest notable transfer has been. On some "Key West to Jupiter" type move. Something crazy.

...and I believe he was from Liberty City. He never played at home.

Joyner was going to go to Columbus but they didn't allow senior year transfers.

The quarterback from Doral Academy last season, Miles Hayes, transferred to Doral from Punta Gorda Charlotte.

That's just mindboggling to me. When I was in high school @ McArthur, you went to school based on where you lived. Didn't have a choice. It's obviously changed quite a bit! I don't remember any charter schools in the 70's.

I remember playing MCA my Junior year back in ‘03. We lost in dramatic fashion by a failed Statue of Liberty play with seconds on the clock. Still remember like it was yesterday.
